Carol Stone attended the commissioners
meeting on October 20 to request the commissioners
look into a situation on County Road 450 N regarding
the lack of visibility on a portion of the road.
She said she has been involved in a couple of accidents
where the road narrows and crosses the creek. Its
not wide enough for two cars and you cant
see around the bend, Stone noted. She requested
that a portion of the bank be reduced to help with
the visibility issues.

Local Republicans
rally before election
|
Beth Rumsey, Staff Writer
Coming together this
way helps us to get to know each other better,
said Ripley County Republican Chairman Kenny
Copeland at the Ripley County Republican fundraising
dinner on Saturday, October 18 at the Rosewood
Reception Center in Cross Plains. Candidates
were introduced and given the opportunity to
speak after a fish fry dinner.
Those attending were urged by each of the candidates
to put differences aside and vote. Its
important nationally, statewide, and locally
that everyone votes, said Copeland. I
would like to see good, old-fashioned candidates
serve in Washington, he said.

key, he noted, saying they brought others

Liens
to be placed on properties in Holton
|
|
Beth Rumsey, Staff Writer
Outstanding sewer bills were discussed
at the Holton Town Council meeting held on Thursday,
October 9. According to clerk-treasurer Misty McNeelan,
there is a balance of approximately $37,987 in unpaid
bills.
McNeelan read an ordinance stating if a sewage line
is connected to a home, the owners or the tenants
are responsible for the bill. This means, according
to McNeelan, even if the home is condemned and not
torn down, or there is no one living in the home,
and the sewage is still connected to the home, a
bill will be generated.
