Holton R&J Food Mart burglarized

In the early morning hours of Tuesday, March 2, the R&J Food Mart in Holton was burglarized. Capt. David Pippin, Ripley County Sheriff's Dept., was dispatched to the scene after the owner had come to work and found the store had been broken into.

Capt. Pippin advised unknown suspects cut the phone line, and then made entry into the building by prying open a door. Once inside, the attendant/employee area was ransacked, along with the office area, and an undisclosed amount of cash and cigarettes were taken.

The Indiana State Police were contacted and an evidence technician arrived at the scene to collect valuable evidence left behind by the burglars.

Capt. Pippin was assisted at the scene by Sheriff Bill Davison, Lt. Lee Mathews and Deputy Tom Grills.
