map of county
Mary Margaret Moorhead - Staff Writer
At the Ripley County Commissioners meeting held Friday, February
13, several issues were discussed. All three commissioners,
John Little, Rob Reiners, and Chuck Folz were in attendance.
The commissioners viewed the updated map
of Ripley County brought by Kerry Langdon of Engel Maps, Inc.
and moved to reprint the county maps with the necessary corrections.
The cost will be $4,500.
In other business:
* Heard an update from County Attorney Neil
Comer on the progress of the Cave Hill Bridge and the Railroad
Bridge. Attorney Comer also advised the commissioners that
they need to fill vacancies on the Redevelopment Commission
Board by the middle of March.
* Agreed that President John Little should sign the GFC agreement
to do the capital asset inventory for Ripley County ordered
by the state. GFC would begin consulting on March 1 and be
completed by November 1 at a cost of $25,000.
* Agreed President Little should sign the
Grant Agreement and Receipt between Ohio and Ripley counties.
* Appointed Kaye Hunger as the 2004-2005 representative
to the Historic Hoosier Hills RC&D Board of Directors with
a 2-1 vote, Little dissenting.
* Heard a report from Scott Melling, EMS Director,
that the Ripley County EMS received 72 calls for service during
January.
* Answered Versailles Clerk-Treasurer Ted
Spurlock's query concerning any vacant lots on the Courthouse
Square which could be used for a new community build
ing for the Town of Versailles. Commissioners said nothing was
available at this time.
* Decided with Attorney John Ertel's recommendation
to accept a check for $20,000 for a Micro Loan even though
it is less than full payment. Their decision was based on the
consideration that the cost of collecting the full loan would
not make it worthwhile.
* Advised the public that new traffic signs
at the intersection of County Road 800 North and 600 East will
become effective at noon on March 15.
* Heard Environmental Specialist Pat Thomas
report that the cost of the dial up for the generator at the
Annex would be paid from the brio fund. She also reported the
Health Department now has hand-held radios for use in emergency
situations.
