Light vandalized at Milan walking path

Members of the Milan Lions Club have agreed to replace the light recently vandalized at the site of the walking path in the Milan Community Park.

According to Police Chief Tom Holt, the Milan Police Department is investigating the destruction of the light and patrolling nightly throughout the park.

Milan Lions Club President Alvin Busching said, "It's a shame that after the Milan Lions spent in excess of $30,000.00 to build this great facility, that someone would do something like this."

Noting that the walking path is used year round, weather permitting, Busching added, "We as a club would hope that everyone would take as much pride in it as the club does and respect the facility by using it appropriately and not causing further vandalism."

In order to deter incidents like the destruction of the $250.00 light, the Milan Lions are looking into placing cameras around the track.

Park Board Chairperson Linda Baurley has announced plans for additional facilities for the park as well as the application for a grant to help in the renovation of the Barlow Build
ing located in the park.

Both town board and park board members have appreciated the contributions of the Milan Lions in the addition of the walking track and hope the vandalism can be curbed.
