South Ripley honors junior high winter athletes at annual awards banquet

South Ripley honored their junior high sports teams on Tuesday, March 16 in the high school cafeteria. The teams honored were the seventh and eighth grade boys' and girls' basketball teams and the junior high cheerleaders.

Seventh Grade Girls
Basketball

The seventh grade girls' basketball team was coached by Greg Wehr. They finished their season with a 7-10 record. The team was made up of Paige Fossett, Elizabeth Forwalt, Melinda Berry, Erin Brewer, Jordan Clements, Chelsea Durham, Katie Polly, Jana Lloyd, Alyssa Halcomb, Taryn Garrett, Erica Ester, Jacqeulin Castner and Alex Snyder. Megan Hodapp and Katlyn Williams were the managers for this year's team.

Seventh Grade Boys
Basketball

The seventh grade boys basketball team finished the season with a record of 4-10 under coach Randall Miller. The team was made up of Zack Jines, Josh Bauman, Jared Keck, Kevin Swinney, Andy Miller, Curtis Althoff, Eric Brewer, Rob Lafary, Thomas Welch, Seth Leonard, Jordan Bodenberg, Blake Richmond, Seth Madden and Kevin Gullion.

Junior High Cheerleaders

Nancy Durham and Bev Ester were the coaches for this year's junior high cheerleading squad. The seventh graders on the squad were Amanda Cox, Ashley Furlow, Megan Howell and Courtney Walker. The eighth graders on the squad were Melanie Berry, Jordan Clements, Chelsea Durham, Erica Ester, Janna Lloyd and Kristen McIntosh.

Eighth Grade Girls
Basketball

The eighth grade girls' basketball team ended their season with a 4-13 record under coach Ron Prosser. The team was made up of Kellie Collier, Amanda Collins, Alissa Stewart, Courtney Walker, Hilary White, Suzannah Mann, Heather Seabolt, Amber Thompson, Myranda Cole and Ashley Hollandsworth. Katlyn Williams and Megan Hodapp were the managers.

Eighth Grade Boys
Basketball

Nathan Conover was the coach of the eighth grade boys' basketball team, which finished the season with a record of 11-3. This year's team was made up of BJ Sieverding, Mitch Krall, Chris Miller, Russ Steinhauer, Eric Tunny, Eric Demaree, Jared Rogers, Kyle Patrick, Jake McConnell, Justin Copeland and Trent Tucker. Josh Abdon was the manager for this year's eighth grade boys' basketball team.

Pacers honor 54 Indians

The Indiana Pacers honored the Milan 1954 team at halftime of their game against the Portland Trailblazers on Wednesday, March 17. The Indians were honored at halftime as well as before the game in a conference room where they gave out interviews. Those in attendance were (left to right) Cheerleaders Patty Marshall and Virginia Voss-Craft team members Ray Craft, Glen Butte, Rollin Cutter, Bob Engel, Gene White, Roger Schroder, Bobby Plump, Clarence Kelly Jr. and Mary Lou Wood.
