Town Council agrees to begin process
Annexation discussed at special Osgood mtg.

The Osgood Town Board held a work session to discuss annexation to the town. The parcel in question is ten acres on County Road 300 North presently owned by Plastic Molding Corporation. They have an interested buyer for the property, but the sale is based on the town annexing the property.

The town has agreed to start annexation procedures for the property. They will also annex 15.7 acres the town owns next to the Plastic Molding property.

As explained by Town Attorney
Mary Ann Gay, "This is a voluntary annexation. There is also an involuntary annexation. There could also be an annexation where some property owners want to be annexed and others do not."

The town would like to have all homes and businesses served by town services: sewer, water, gas, streets,
fire, and garbage pick-up, eventually be annexed into the town. "This would only be fair and equitable to those residents of the town of Osgood who pay for the services," said town board member Paul Struckman.

However, this first annexation process will be only for the two parcels, unless an adjoining property
owner would like to be included. Mary Ann Gay will now start preparing a fiscal plan for the annexation. Because of the "fire district" the annexation would not go into effect until January 2, 2006.

The board also would like to make sure all properties within the town limits are paying town property taxes. They will hire someone to check the records at the courthouse.
