Napoleon officials address inspection issue
Cathy May - Contributing Writer
The Town of Napoleon has officially responded
to the letter they received from the Indiana Department of
Environmental Management after their inspection of the sewer
lagoon in January.
The letter cited a violation for not having records stored
at the lagoon site when actually the records have been on site
for the last two years. Another violation was cited because
the effluent and influent flow meters were not installed. The
influent meter was actually installed in December of 2003.
The effluent meter has now been designed by engineer John Graf
of Howard Barth and Associates and will be in place by May
1.
The State Board of Accounts has requested the town calculate
the value of their roads, gas system and sewer system as part
of their assets. No other suggestions were made by the auditor.
Rod Eaton, utility manager for the town, has completed an
additional 8-hour operator qualification training. If any citizen
of Napoleon has not completed the income survey, needed as
part of a grant requirement for a drainage study, the town
requests that they do so. Those not receiving a survey can
call Napoleon Town Board President Tim Brancamp or Clerk-Treasurer
Karen Rohlfing.
All three board members were present: Tim Brancamp, Bill Vankirk,
and Gerry Linarducci. Town Attorney Larry Eaton was present
to advise the board.
The next regular meeting of the Napoleon Town Board is scheduled
for May 12 at 7:00 p.m. at the Napoleon Senior Center.
