Eagles fall to Milan then turn around and defeat Waldron in back to back nights

Jac-Cen-Del's baseball team lost one and won one in back to back nights this week. On Monday night the Eagles hosted the Milan Indians and lost 11-4 then turned around on Tuesday night and traveled to Waldron to defeat the Mohawks 7-1.

In Monday night's game the Eagles fell behind early when Milan's Wes Edwards cross home plate in the top of the first inning to give the Indians a 1-0 lead. In the bottom half of the inning JCD's Damon Simon scored to tie the game at one apiece.

The Eagles took their only lead in the third inning when Adam Peetz hit a double and was batted in on a Brent Pettit double.

Milan took over in the fifth inning adding eight runs to their total to take
a 9-2 lead, putting the game out of reach. Both teams scored two more runs to make the final score 11-4.

Derek Pennington led the Indians going 2 for 3 with 2 doubles and 2 runs scored. Andy McIntosh batted 2 for 3 and Wes Edwards went 1 for 4 with a home run and 2 runs scored.

McIntosh was the winning pitcher pitching all 7 inning, giving up 4 earned runs on 8 hits, walking 6 batters and striking out 6.

Chip Schuler led the Eagles in hitting going 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 doubles, 2 RBI's and one run scored. Brent Pettit went 2 for 4 with a double and one RBI.

Brent Pettit started on the mound for the Eagles pitching 5 2/3 innings giving up 9 earned runs on 8 hits, walking 6 batters and striking out 1. Adam Peetz came in to close the
game pitching 1 1/3 innings, giving up 2 runs (1 earned) on 2 hits, walking none and striking out one.

In their second game the Eagles scored all seven runs in the third and fourth innings while allowing the Mowhawks their one run in the fifth inning.

Kyle Horan batted 1 for 2 in the contest with 2 runs scored. Adam Peetz went 1 for 3 with a double and one RBI and Bryan Schwanholt went 1 for 4 with an RBI and one run scored.

Bryan Schwanholt started the game pitching, going 4 1/3 innings, giving up 1 run on 2 hits, walking 3 batters and striking out 5. Tyler Bradshaw came in to close the game pitching 2 2/3 innings, giving up no runs on no hits, walking no batters and striking out 3.

Lady Indians defeat Lady Eagles on Monday night at JCD

Milan's eight runs in the top of the first inning against Jac-Cen-Del all but sealed the deal in the two team's match-up Monday night at Jac-Cen-Del. The Lady Indians went on to defeat the Lady Eagles by a score of 13-7.

Jac-Cen-Del did manage to cut into the lead in the bottom of the fourth inning as they scored 6 runs to make the score 8-6.

The Indians added five more runs in the top of the fifth inning while the Eagles managed just one in their half of the inning as the scored halted at 13-7.

Beth McIntosh started on the mound for the Indians pitching 3 2/3 innings, giving up 6 runs (5 earned)
on 5 hits, walking 3 batters and striking out 3. Kayla Teer came in for McIntosh to close out the game, pitching 3 1/3 innings, giving up 1 run on 1 hit, walking 6 batters and striking out 4.

Katie Volz batted 2 for 4 with 4 RBI's and 3 runs scored. Kayla Teer went 2 for 4 with a triple, 2 RBI's and 2 runs scored and Lauren Ison was 2 for 4 with a triple and 3 RBI's.

JCD's Alisha Lord batted 1 for 4 with a double and 2 runs scored and Traci Siebert went 2 for 4 with a run scored.

The Lady Indians play again Friday night at home against South Decatur and the Lady Eagles play again next Monday on the road against Madison. Both games are scheduled to start at 4:30 pm.
