Top two JCD High School seniors honored

Ryan Brancamp gives Valedictory speech
For the past four years Ryan Brancamp has been
the number one student in his class, which was why he was named
the Valedictorian for the Class of 2004 at Jac-Cen-Del High
School. Noticed for his outstanding work in the classroom,
Brancamp was recognized and had the opportunity to give his
Valedictory address in front of 67 students at the forty-fourth
annual graduation ceremony in Jac-Cen-Del's gym on Saturday,
May 29.
With an 11.29 GPA and a 1450 SAT score, Brancamp has spent
plenty of time in the books, but that's not all he has done
in his four years at JCD. While in school, he participated
in several groups and activities as well as running on the
track team for one year. He was a part of the National Honor
Society for three years, a member of the Spanish Club for three
years and was the president of the German Club for three years.
In the classroom, he received the most credits in his four
years and was awarded several awards and scholarships including
the President's Education Award, Marine Corps Award for Scholastic
Excellence, Kiwanis Award, the IU Integrated Freshman Learning
Experience, IU Residents Freese Scholarship, the IU Valedictorian
Henry H. Lewis Award, the Senior English Award, Senior Life
Sciences Award, Senior Government Award, the National Honor
Society Scholarship, the Georgia Lee Mulford Scholarship, the
Kappa Kappa Kappa Highest Grade Average (Boy) Delta Rho Chapter
Award, the AHSME
(AMC-12) Mathematics Award and the Indiana Council of Teachers of Mathematics
Excellence in Math Award.
In the fall Brancamp plans on attending Indiana University
where he will study Microbiology, specializing in Genetic Research.
He is the son of Tim and Julie Brancamp.
Horan named Salutatorian
Lindsay Horan was named the Salutatorian for
the Class of 2004 at Jac-Cen-Del High School after maintaining
an 11.16 GPA and staying in the number two spot in her class
for all four years of high school.
As well as keeping ahead of the game in the classroom, Horan
was involved in several sports and activities at JCD. She was
a member of the volleyball team for four years, the cheerleading
squad for four years, the softball team for four years, dance
team for two years and the basketball team for one year.
She was also a part of the SADD (Students Against Destructive
Decisions) Chapter, the Sunshine Society where she was the
vice-president, the National Honor Society, the FCA (Fellowship
of Christian Athletes) Student Council and the Prom Promise
Committee in her four year stay at JCDHS.
Horan was awarded several scholarships and awards, which she
was recognized for at the graduation ceremony, including Senior
Athletic Blanket Award, Mike Miller Academic/Athletic Scholarship
Award, the U.S. Army Reserve National Scholar/Athlete Award,
Marine Corps Award for Scholastic Butler University Irvington
Scholarship, the Rettig, Blankman, Mack and Seale Accounting
Award, the Senior Physical Sciences Award, the National Honor
Society Scholarship, Student Council Services Award, Kappa
Kappa Kappa Highest Grade
Average (Girl) Delto Rho Chapter Award and the AHSME (AMC-12) Mathematics Award.
In the fall Horan plans on attending Butler University where
she will be studying pharmacy. She is the daughter of Brian
and Karen Horan.
