In an accident that occurred Tuesday, June 8, three teenagers all 17-years-old, were injured when their vehicles collided.

When officers from the Ripley County Sheriff's Department arrived on the scene, Ripley County Paramedics and Batesville Fire First Responders were attending to the teenagers.

According to an eyewitness account, Craig Becker, of Milan, was traveling northbound on SR 129 driving a 1989 Chevrolet passenger car, when Kevin Wallpe, of Batesville, drove his 1997 Honda passenger car into the path of the Becker vehicle from Adams Church Road.

Wallpe was trapped inside the car and had to be extricated by Task Unit 1 of Osgood, and Truck 50 of Batesville. He was then flown to University of Cincinnati, via Air Care.

According to Officer Thomas Grills of the Ripley County Sheriff's Department, Wallpe's injuries were non-life threatening.

A passenger in the Wallpe vehicle, George "Robbie" Mehlon, of Batesville, along with Becker sustained minor injuries and were transported to Margaret Mary Community Hospital, Batesville, by Rescue 10.

Ripley County Sheriff Bill Davison and Chief Deputy Captain David Pippin assisted Officer Grills at the scene.

Officer Grills thanked the EMS personnel for their efficient work at the scene saying they "provide the best possible treatment for the patients."
