Ripley County queen contestants attend tea

Contestants for this year's Ripley County Fair
Queen received instructions at the annual tea on Wednesday,
June 23, at the home of County Extension Educator LouAnn Menchhofer.
Ten girls and their mothers gathered at 7:00 p.m. for introductions,
refreshments, and counseling from the 2003 Ripley County Fair
Queen Mandy Thompson. Rahe Ann Bergman and Monica Hansen assisted
the hostess.
Also present to instruct the contestants in makeup and hair
styles were Vonda Miller, representing Mary Kay, and Rita Wilkening,
hair stylist from Salon 1-2-1 in Versailles.
Of the 12 girls who have registered for the contest, two were
not present because of Hoosier Girls State at Indiana State
University at Terre Haute. Sarah Krausher of Milan and Holly
Toops of South Ripley represented their high schools as delegates
to Girls State.
Since the June 23 meeting one girl - Heidi Truitt of Lawrenceburg - has withdrawn.

Also, Jessica Geisler, daughter of John & Lisa Geisler
of Versailles and sponsored by Halcomb Home Center; Brandy
Lanham, daughter of Kim Lanham of Versailles and sponsored
by family and friends; Jenna Menchhofer, daughter of Glen & Joan
Menchhofer of Osgood and sponsored by Odyssey Full Service
Salon.
Erica Myers, daughter of Rob & Lisa Russell of Moores
Hill; Samantha Swinney, daughter of David and Melinda Swinney
of Osgood and sponsored by Crossroads Family Restaurant; Courtney
Vollmer, daughter of John & Pamela Vollmer of Osgood and
sponsored by Shelby Crop Insurance.
Sarah Kraushar, daughter of Dr. B. Scott & Donna Kraushar
of Dillsboro and sponsored by County Line Veterinary Service;
Holly Toops, daughter of Ray & Freda Toops of Holton and
sponsored by the Versailles Dairy Queen were not present because
of being Girls State delegates.

This year's contestants for
the Ripley County Queen 2004 are, left to right:

Menchhofer on Wednesday, June 23, for contest instructions.
Two not present: Sarah Krausher and Holly Toops,
who were attending Hoosier Girls State. The contest
will be Sunday, July 25, on stage at the Ripley County
Fairgrounds.
