Over fifty walkers and runners
showed up last Saturday morning for the 11th
Annual Chamber 5K Walk/Run to compete in the
3.1 mile road race, which loops around Versailles.
Thirty four individuals participated in the
running part of the road race, which was divided
up into seven different age divisions with the
top in each division receiving a trophy and the
top overall male and female runners received
an award. This year's champion on the men's side
was Cecil Franke who finished the course in an
outstanding 14:41, winning by more than 1:00.
The top female runner was Julie Nolan who finished
the course in 20:24.
The other award winners on the men's side were
Nicholas Gauck (13 and under) who ran a 19:49,
Brandon Welt (14-18) in 15:57, Chad Hughes (19-29)
running a time of 22:55, Ronnie McAlister
(30-39) in 17:03, David Fryman (40-49) with a time of 19:05, Roger Toops (50-59)
running a 19:12 and Harlan Knudson (60 and over) with a time of 23:03.
The rest of the female award winners were Brynn
Olinger (13 & under) with a time of 22:03,
Kaitlin Hughes (14-18) in 25:15, Jillian Yorn
(19-29) in a time of 20:41, Camille Boyken (30-39)
running a 22:06, Carla Stenger (40-49) in 24:50
and MaryAnn Rick (50-59) in 25:13. No females
signed up in the 60 & over age group.
Fifteen walkers came out Saturday morning to
trod the 3.1 mile course. Only two awards are
given to the walkers, which included the top
male and female walker. This year's top male
walker was reigning champ Gerald Laswell who
finished the course in 36:35 and the top female
walker was Sue Brown who finished the course
in 39:21.
Congratulations to all participants in both
the walking and running on completing the course.
