Larry A. Collier, 48, of Milan, pled guilty to Child Molesting, a Class A felony, in Ripley Circuit Court on Monday, July 19.

Collier was sentenced to 20 years in prison with no time suspended to probation. In addition to the sentence, he was ordered to pay for any counseling the victim may need for the next five years.

An investigation by Indiana State Police Detective Tracy Rohlfing and the Ripley County Division of Family & Children revealed that Collier had been molesting a 12-year-old family member at his Milan home. This occurred on one or more times during 2004.

Ripley County Prosecutor Ric Hertel said the investigative procedure was professional. "A thorough investigation such as this increases the chances for a conviction dramatically," Hertel noted.

Upon release from the Department of Correction, Collier will then be required to register as a sex offender.
