Around 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 31, the Liquor
Cabinet in Milan was robbed at gunpoint.
According to one witness, a man dressed in all black with
commando make-up was seen running towards some semi-trailers
west of the store. As the witness got closer to the liquor
store the owner ran out to inform them that his store has just
been robbed.
When police arrived on the scene they were informed of the
offender's whereabouts near the semi-trailers. A few minutes
later the criminal was apprehended by Milan Officer Daniel
Craig. Nineteen-year-old Eric Adams from Moores Hill was arrested
and charged with Armed Robbery. The gun and the money from
the liquor store were recovered by police. The gun, which looked
to be a semi-automatic pistol, turned out to be just a toy
gun.
Assisting Officer Craig in the investigation is Milan Officer
Gary Skaggs, deputies from the Ripley County Sheriff's Department,
Versailles and Sunman police along with C.S.I. Sgt. Ed Lewis
of the Indiana State Police.
Adams is currently being held in the Ripley County Jail without
bail until a determination of probable cause by the Ripley
Circuit Court.
Armed Robbery is a Class B felony and carries a presumptive
sentence of ten years in prison, to which can be added ten
years for aggravating factors, or four years subtracted for
mitigation circumstances.
