Suspect arrested in Bake-Mart robbery

An arrest was made about 5:00 p.m. Monday, August
23, in the Bake-Mart Shell Station robbery that occurred Saturday,
August 21.
Arlie Durbin, 31, of near Versailles, was taken into custody
by officers from the Ripley County Sheriff's Department without
incident, according to Sheriff Bill Davison.
Durbin is charged with robbing the Bake-Mart Shell Station
in Versailles at knifepoint and getting away with a small amount
of money.
Durbin is incarcerated at the Ripley County Jail. His bail
has been set for $25,000, meaning he needs $2,550 to bond out.
It's not too late to get tickets for concert
at Holton
National recording artist Mitch McVicker will
be in concert at the Holton Community Center this Saturday,
August 28, beginning at 6:00 p.m. and according to those organizing
the event, tickets are still available.
The Contemporary Christian singer, who is known for hit songs
such as "My Deliverer" and "Heaven is Waiting",
enjoys coming to small towns such as Holton to present his
music.
Minister of the Holton Christian Church Bob McCreary has been
instrumental in bringing the famous artist to Holton and encourages
church youth groups to participate.
Tickets can be purchased at the Napoleon State Bank in Holton;
the Napoleon Stone Quarry (ask for April) or Welch's Cabinets
in Versailles.
Adult Ed. classes available
The Adult Education Department of Southeastern
Career Center is offering night classes this fall.
The first round of classes will begin September 7. These include
the conventional courses of Computers, Heating and Air Conditioning
I, Residential Wiring, Welding Fundamentals, Real Estate Licensing,
Quilting, Cake Decorating, and many others.
New classes offered include, but are not limited to: Scrapbooking,
Interior Design, Spanish for Fun, Yoga, and Salsa Dancing.
The classes are available for a nominal tuition fee and the
price of books when required. For a complete listing of classes
