Osgood Legion members display new attire
Mary Margaret Moorhead - Staff Writer
Thanks to a grant from the Reynolds Foundation,
members of the William A. Gilland Post #267 of the Osgood American
Legion
are sporting new navy blazers, gray slacks, and yellow
ties - attire the Legionnaires say they have needed for a long
time.
As the 20 members gathered at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, August
30, they posed for a photo on the steps of the Osgood American
Legion home with wives, daughters, and community members standing
by to take pictures and enjoy the view.
"We have needed this kind of 'uniform' for a long time," one
member said. "During the year we are called upon for lots
of memorial services and special occasions."
Osgood Legion Commander Dennis Winters confirmed that Post
#267 participates in many special occasions during the year.
These include parades, Veterans Day services in the schools
and the community, memorial services for fellow servicemen,
color guards at a variety of occasions, Memorial Day gatherings
and visits to area cemeteries.
In addition to regular business meetings, Post #267 engages
in several projects.

30 years with Legionnaire Bill Borchelt as the institutional
