Jac-Cen-Del hosts four-way cross country meet with Rising Sun, Milan and Batesville

Jac-Cen-Del hosted a four-way meet on Tuesday night with Milan, Batesville and Rising Sun all showing up to take on the Eagles.

In the boys portion of the meet Batesville was the team champions with 32 points followed by Rising Sun with 64, Milan with 69 and JCD with 73. Milan's Brandon Welti continued his unbeaten streak by winning the race in a time of 16:39. Finishing second was Batesville's Jim Turchyn in 17:00. JCD's first runner to cross the finish line was Kyle Horn in fifth place with a time of 17:47.

Milan's next runner behind Welti was Adam Baylor in seventh place running a time of 18:15. Following Baylor was Nathan Hampton (9th 18:25), Josh Yatsko (26th 21:10),
Daniel Fleming (28th 21:47), Andrew Meadors (29th 21:59) and Mark Horstman (31st 22:39).

The Eagles second runner to finish was Andrew Wagner placing 10th in a time of 18:28, following him was Justin Eaton (15th 18:56), Matt Hicks (22nd 19:55), Grant Gilland (24th 20:01), Austin Lord (27th 21:22), Andrew Huff (30th 22:09) and Blake Billman (32nd 24:53).

In the girls' portion of the meet the Batesville Lady Bulldogs were the winners with 31 points followed by Rising Sun with 38 and JCD with 55. Milan didn't have a full team competing therefore they weren't awarded a team score.

Rising Sun's Caitlin Sauerhage was the individual winner with a time of 15:37. Second place was Batesville's Janice Laker with a time of 17:00. JCD's Alisha Lord came in
third place running a time of 17:34. Milan's first runner to cross the finish line was Danielle Clemens in 16th place with a time of 20:31.

Following Lord for the Lady Eagles was Amber Lunsford in sixth place running a time of 18:30, Kaitlyn Hughes (13th 19:19), Kelly Wagner (14th 19:51) and Laura Hicks (21st 21:35).

Megan Lade was the second Indian to cross the finish line running a time of 20:38 placing 17th. Sarah Mills was next in 23rd with a time of 22:35.

In the junior high race Jac-Cen-Del won the girls' portion with a score of 30 points followed by Batesville with 50, Rising Sun with 51 and Milan with 100. Batesville won the boys' portion with a team score of 32 followed by Rising Sun with 64, Milan with 69 and JCD with 73.

Lady Indians defeat JCD on Eagles home court

Milan's volleyball team picked up a big conference win on Thursday night over the Lady Eagles at Jac-Cen-Del. The Lady Indians won in three games with scores of 25-22, 25-15 and 26-26.

As a team the Indians were nearly perfect on serving going 67-68 (99%). Lacee Alloway led the team going 16-16, Kaity Barton went 15-15, Miranda Roberts was 14-14, Dane Cutter was 11-11 and Miccah Roberts went 7-7. Jen Wullenweber was close to perfect going 11-12. Cutter led the team with 9 kills on 15-19 hitting. Barton and Miranda Roberts both had 6 kills with Barton going 20-24 on hitting and Roberts was 32-36. Cutter also led the team in blocks with 2 solo.

With the win the Lady Indians push their record to 6-3 overall and 1-0 in the conference.

In the reserve portion of the game the Lady Eagles were victorious in three games with scores of 14-25, 25-23 and 26-24.
