Lady Indians snap two-match losing streak over S'western

After losing two straight matches to Rising Sun (16-25, 25-21, 18-25 & 22-25) and to South Ripley (21-25 & 13-25) in the Ripley County Tournament, Milan's varsity volleyball team picked up a victory over Southwestern at home Tuesday night. The Lady Indians defeated the Lady Rebels in three straight games with scores of 25-10, 25-16 and 25-20. With the win the Indians push their record to 8-5 overall and 2-1 in the conference.

For Milan Lacee Alloway was the leading server going a perfect 11-11 with an ace. Miranda Roberts was nearly perfect going 15-
16 with 3 aces. Kaity Barton led the team with 4 aces on 13-16 serving. Dane Cutter finished the match with a team high 10 kills on 23-25 hitting. Miranda Roberts had 9 kills on 22-24 hitting and Barton had 6 on 17-19 hitting.

Cutter also led the team in set assists with 13 followed by Lacee Alloway with 9 and Kaity Barton with 6. Cutter had the Indians only block in the contest.

In the reserve game the Lady Indians were victorious in two games with scores of 25-19 and 25-23.

Milan continues their season this Saturday at the Knightstown Tournament, which is scheduled to start at 9:00 am.

JCD's Junior High cross country teams win duel meet over G'burg

Jac-Cen-Del's Junior High cross country teams continued their excellent seasons with a duel meet win over Greensburg Tuesday evening.

In the girls' portion of the meet the Lady Eagles kept their unbeaten streak alive with a team score of 25 points to Greensburg's 30. With the win they push their record to 10-0 on the season. Samantha White was the first Eagle to cross the finish line placing second in a time of 13:00. Brooke Gilland, Jaime Lunsford and Alyssa Herbert took fourth, fifth and sixth place with Gilland running a 13:59, Lunsford running a 14:04 and Herbert running a 14:07. Following Her
bert was Allana Newhart (8th 14:50), Alyssa Hammond (12th 15:40), Becca Wagner (13th 15:59), Erika Hicks (15th 16:24) and Val Wagner (16:35).

In the boys' portion of the race the Eagles had a team score of 21 points while Greensburg had 34. JCD took the first two places with Derek Lunsford winning in a time of 11:31 and Blake Sutton taking second place in a time of 11:45. The Eagles wrapped up fifth, sixth and seventh place with Ethan Wagner taking fifth (12:03), Brandon Wilhoit taking sixth (12:27) and Zach Schuler placing seventh (12:34). Following Schuler was Devon Shadday (11th 12:54), Zach Kappes (15th 14:24) and Brock Shadday (14:26).
