Lady Raiders defeat Oldenburg in three straight games at home

South Ripley's varsity volleyball team handed Oldenburg Academy a three game loss Tuesday night at South Ripley. The scores in the three games were 25-20, 27-25 and 25-15.

The Lady Raiders had two girls finish the match serving perfect with Erin Collier going 16-16 with 4 aces for 10 points and Ashley Thomas going 11-11 for 7 points. Casey Payne was nearly perfect going 16-17 with 2 aces for 10 points.

Payne was the top passer for the Raiders completing 25 out of 29 passes with 8 digs. Erin Collier completed 21 out of 26 passes with 11 digs. Julie Lipperd and Kristen Huss led the team with 6 kills each, Lipperd was 14 for 17 on hitting while Huss was 14 for 16. Huss also led the team in setting going 24 for 25 followed by Sheena Braley who was 20 for
22.

Abbey Lemon led the team with 4 solo blocks and one assisted. Erin Collier had 3 solo blocks and one assisted and Julie Lipperd had 2 solo and 2 assisted.

In the reserve match the Lady Raiders defeated the Twisters in two games with scores of 25-23 and 27-25.

Courtney Walker was the leading server going 9-10 with an ace. Kellie Collier led the team in passing completing 23 out of 26 passes followed by Erica Burress who completed 30 out of 32 passes.

Burress and Walker led the team with 5 kills each with both girls going 14 for 16 on hitting. Amanda Cox finished with a team high 4 solo blocks.

The Lady Raiders continue their season next Monday in a conference game at Milan. That game is scheduled to start at 6:00 pm with the JV playing first.

Lady Indians pick up conference win over Shawe

It took Milan's volleyball team just three games to defeat conference opponent Shawe in a home match Tuesday night. In the three games the scores were 25-11, 25-18 and 25-14. With the win the Lady Indians push their record to 10-8 overall and 3-1 in conference play.

Two Indians finished the match serving perfect with Lacee Alloway going 13-13 and sister Kady going 5-5. Miranda Roberts led the team with 3 aces on 9-11 serving followed by Dane Cutter and Miccah Roberts with 2 aces each.
Miranda Roberts also led the team with 10 kills on 32-34 hitting followed by Cutter with 7 kills on 17-18 hitting and Lacee Alloway and Jen Wullenweber with 4 kills apiece. Wullenweber had a team high 9 set assists followed by Cutter with 7, those two also had the teams only blocks both finishing with one each.

In the reserve game the Lady Indians lost in two matches with scores of 19-25 and 22-25. With the loss their record falls to 5-8 overall and 1-3 in the conference.

Milan continues their season tonight on the road against Oldenburg. That game is scheduled to start at 6:00 pm with the JV playing first.
