Good turnout for conferences at JCD

At the Jac-Cen-Del School Board meeting held
last Monday evening, September 20, it was noted that the parent/teacher
conferences saw outstanding attendance from both the students
and their parents.
The board heard reports on various activities. ISTEP testing
was to begin on Tuesday, September 21. The summer's recreational
program was reported to be a great success. There were 272
students who participated in the program with many workers
and volunteer coaches.
Voter registration will be held at the high school on September
28.
The corporation treasurer reported the June 2004 settlement
from the treasurer of Ripley County was received for Excise
Taxes for 2004 in the amount of $111,970. It was recommended
that the bids be accepted for loans from financial institutions.
It was further recommended that the bid be awarded to the Napoleon
State Bank for the fixed rate of 2.6% for six months and/or
2.8% for one year.
The donation of books on personal safety was accepted from
the AmVets. The board approved the acceptance of the following
grants from the Gilmore and Golda Reynolds Foundation:
· $4,100 to Freda Kegley, corporation librarian for
visiting artists,
· $2,165 to Christi Heaton for partial cost of the
academic teams, and
· $32,473 to the corporation for wireless lap top computers
and carts.
All five school board members were in attendance: John Billman,
Paul Hardy, Kathleen Dickman, Charles Hughes and Deanna Young.
Superintendent Bill Narwold and Attorney Tim Day were present
to advise the board.
The next board meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 19,
in the Jac-Cen-Del Elementary School Library.
