Angela S. Lewis
Angela S. Lewis, 19, of Batesville, died Sunday, September 26, 2004 at Margaret Mary Community Hospital in Batesville. She was born August 13, 1985 in Panama City, FL the daughter of Scott Lewis and Theresa (Cervantez) Lewis and they survive in Batesville.
Other survivors include two sisters, Patricia Enke of Clovis, NM, Pamela Lewis of Batesville, maternal grandmother, Marie Cervantez of Clovis, NM, paternal grandmother, Judy Lewis of Manchester, OH and paternal great-grandmother, Lola Swayne of Manchester, OH. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Pete Cervantez and her paternal great-grandfather, John Lewis.
Angela was a college student and was also a daycare caregiver at the YMCA in Batesville.
Visitation will be held today, Thursday, September 30, 4-7 p.m. (slow time) at Weigel Funeral Home in Batesville with a prayer service being held at 6:30 p.m.
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 1, 10 a.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church in Batesville with Rev. Christiaan Kappes officiating.
Burial will be in the St. Louis Catholic Cemetery in Batesville. Memorials may go to the Phi Beta Psi Sorority Cancer Research Project.

Richard E. Perkinson, Sr.
Richard E. Perkinson, Sr., 42, of Holton, formerly of Madison, died Monday, September 20, 2004 at King's Daughters' Hospital, Madison. He was born November 26, 1961 in Indianapolis the son of Ronald E. Perkinson and Anna Horn.
Survivors include his wife, Kayla Sue Perkinson of Holton; one daughter, Maegan Ann Perkinson of Madison; three sons, Richard E. Perkinson, Jr., Shawn Michael Perkinson, Ronnie Allen Perkinson, all of Holton; mother, Anna Elizabeth Perkinson of North Vernon; father and stepmother, Ronald Eugene and Donna Sue Perkinson of Madison; one sister, Lana Kay McDarment of Madison; one brother, Randy Allen Perkinson of Madison; stepsister, Jennifer Symons of Madison; stepbrother, Brian J. Symons of North Vernon and maternal grandmother, Amanda Horn of Osgood.
He was preceded in death by maternal grandfather Beverly Horn and paternal grandparents Virgil Perkinson and Marcella Kottlowski.
Mr. Perkinson served in the US Navy for six years and was a former employee of Starks Mechanical in Columbus where he worked as a sheet metal fabricator. He graduated from Madison Consolidated High School.
Visitation will be held Thursday, September 23 from 4-8 p.m. at Vail-Holt Funeral Home, Madison and Friday after 9 a.m. until the time of service. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Charles Justice officiating. Burial will be in the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery. A military graveside service will be conducted by the honor guard of the American Legion Post #9.
Memorials may be made to the Richard E. Perkinson Memorial Fund.

Marie C. Bechtel
Marie C. Bechtel, 87, of the Waters of Batesville, formerly of Sunman, died Monday, September 20, 2004 at Margaret Mary Community Hospital. She was born June 6, 1917 in Oldenburg the daughter of Daniel and Eleanor Klein, both deceased. She married Henry Bechtel, Sr., and he preceded her in death in 1985.
Survivors include four daughters, Mary Rehberger of Sunman, Vi and husband JR Adams of Sunman, Alice and husband Cliff Riehle of Harrison, OH, Rose and husband Larry Weber of Greensburg; two sons, Henry and wife Mary Bechtel, Jr., of Citra, FL, Daniel and wife Donna Bechtel of Sunman; 17 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters, two brothers, and one grandson, Brian Adams.
Mrs. Bechtel was a homemaker and a member of the St. Nicholas Church.
Visitation will be held Thursday, September 23 from 4-8 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home, Sunman with rosary at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 24 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Nicholas Church with Rev. Gregory Bramlage officiating. Burial will be in the St. Nicholas Church Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice or to the masses.

Mathilda H. Schumacher
Mathilda H. Schumacher, 83, of Batesville, died Sunday, September 19, 2004 at Abilene Regional Medical Center in Abilene, TX. She was born March 2, 1921 in Franklin County the daughter of Gilbert and Louise (Hoegemeyer) Gluesenkamp, both deceased. She married Owen Schumacher at St. John Church, Huntersville on August 30, 1941 and he preceded her in death October 9, 1987.
Survivors include one daughter, Owenita Grubert of Fishkill, NY.; one son, Michael Schumacher (Janet) of Batesville; five grandchildren; one sister, JoAnn Widerquist of Cassopolis, MI.; and Bill Gluesenkamp and devoted friend Richard Flodder.
Mrs. Schumacher was a member of St. John United Church of Christ, Order of Eastern Star Chapter 348 and member of the 12th Armored Division Association. She was retired from Margaret Mary Community Hospital as a ward clerk and was still an active volunteer.
Visitation will be held Thursday, September 23 from 4-8 p.m. with OES services at 7:30 p.m. at Meyers Funeral Home, Batesville. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 24 at 11 a.m. at the St. John United Church of Christ in Batesville with Rev. David Johnston officiating. Burial will be in the St. John Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Cornea Research Foundation or St. John Church both in care of the funeral home.

Gary Lee Shaw
Gary Lee Shaw, 50, of Holton died Tuesday, September 14, 2004 at Schneck Medical Center, Seymour. He was born January 1, 1954 in Batesville the son of Wallace and Helen Hudson Shaw.
He is survived by one brother, Frank W. Shaw of Columbus and companion, Sharla Hensley of Holton. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Shaw was a certified auto mechanic.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Myers Funeral Service, Reed & Jewell Chapel are in charge of the arrangements.

Margaret M. Peetz
Margaret M. Peetz, 84, of Napoleon passed away Monday, September 13, 2004 at the Decatur County Memorial Hospital in Greensburg. She was born near Batesville on December 20, 1919 the daughter of John and Elizabeth Fremdling Klusman. She was married to Clyde Peetz on January 25, 1947 and he preceded her in death on December 16, 1991.
Mrs. Peetz was a 1938 graduate of Napoleon High School and was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Napoleon. She was a homemaker, a former employee of Seagram's and had driven a school bus for the Jac-Cen-Del School system for several years.
Survivors include one son, John Peetz and his wife Marilyn of Osgood; two granddaughters, Amanda Comer and her husband Blake of Osgood, Julie Ann Obendorf and her husband John of Osgood. She was preceded in death by her parents and her grandson, Doug Peetz.
Funeral services will be held Friday, September 17, 11 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, Napoleon with Pastor Gary Groth officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday, September 16 from 5-8 p.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home, Versailles.
Memorials may be given to the church in care of the funeral home.

Jackson L. Beaman
Jackson L. Beaman, 79, of Indianapolis, passed away, September 11, 2004. He was born October 5, 1929 in Quincy, Indiana the son of Ross and Lacy Beaman.
Mr. Beaman had been employed as a machinist with Allison Division of General Motors for 30 years until his retirement in 1984. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
Mr. Beaman is survived by his wife, Bertha L. Stratton Beaman, two sons, Robert J. Beaman and Larry E. Breeding, three grandsons, Brian and Brandon Beaman and Doug Shalon.
Funeral services were Wednesday, September 15 at 2 p.m. at Shirley Brothers Washington Memorial Chapel.

Donald E. Ankenman
Donald E. Ankenman, 73, of Aurora, died Monday, September 13, 2004 at Christ Hospital, Cincinnati. He was born July 7, 1931 in Delville, KS, the son of Earl Bowater Ankenman and Elda Nadine Clark, both deceased. He married Nancy J. Day and she survives in Aurora.
Other survivors include one son, Dale E. Ankenman of Florence, KY.; five daughters, Laura A. Werner of Aurora, Barbara Miller of Lawrenceburg, Linda A. Granata of Charlottesville, VA, Lois A. Diersing of Cincinnati, Kelly A. Leahy of Portland, OR.; one brother, Dr. Ralph Ankenman of Cedarville, OH.; 14 grandchildren and one great granddaughter. His parents preceded him in death.
Mr. Ankenman was a retired school teacher who taught in various schools throughout the tri-state, including Dillsboro Grade School. He was a member of the Hogan Hill Baptist Church, charter member and past secretary-treasurer of Dearborn County Republican Men's Club and was employed by Ankenman Tax Service for seven years.
Visitation will be held today, Thursday, September 16 from 5-8 p.m. at Filter Funeral Home, Aurora. A private funeral service will be held on Friday, September 17. Burial will be in the Hogan Hill Cemetery in Aurora. Memorials may be made to the Kettering Cancer Institute

Edith A. Weigel
Edith A. Weigel, 79, of Oldenburg, died Monday, September 16, 2004 at Hospitality Hall, Batesville. She was born November 17, 1942 in Oldenburg the daughter of Henry Suhre and Anna Raver Suhre, both deceased. She married Robert Weigel on May 6, 1950 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Oldenburg and he preceded her in death on August 12, 1996.
Survivors include four daughters, Jan (Gary) Westerfeld of Oldenburg, Jill (Hossein) Kajouee of San Francisco, CA, Jackie (Mike) Wilhelm of Oldenburg, Jenny (Keith) O'Brian of Bellview, Ky.; five sons, Doug (Jane) Weigel of Oldenburg, Dale (Kelly) Weigel of Bedford, Dave (Linda) Weigel of Greensburg, Dan Weigel of Batesville, Dick (Leslie) Weigel, of Noblesville; one brother, Edgar Suhre of Batesville; 16 grandchildren and one great grandchild. One brother, Fr. Roger Huser preceded her in death.
Mrs. Weigel was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church, the Oldenburg Academy Alumni and its Ladies Society. She was a cook for the Oldenburg School for 12 years retiring in 1990.
Visitation will be held Thursday, September 16, 4-8 p.m. at the Holy Family Church in Oldenburg with rosary services at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 17 at 10 a.m. with Rev. John Turnbull and Rev Benno Heidlage officiating. Burial will be in the Holy Family Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson Disease Research or to the Hospitality Hall.

Gene R. Shock
Gene R. Shock, 77, of Vevay, died Saturday, September 4, 2004 at Norton Hospital in Louisville, KY. He was born December 19, 1926 in Tipton Co. the son of George Daniel Shock and Doris Aleta (Hiatt) Shock, both deceased. He married Marjorie L. Elston on September 29, 1945 and she survives.
Other survivors include four sons, Daniel Shock of Windfall, Randall and Anthony Shock both of Indianapolis, Jonathon Shock and wife Penny of Rochester, one daughter, Linette Shock of Indianapolis, four brothers, Donald Shock of Tipton, Russell Shock of Long Beach, CA, Ralph Shock of Noblesville, Darrell "Butch" Shock of Ocala, FL, two sisters, Alberta Hiatt of Arcadia, Wanda Gullion of Kokomo, six grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by three sons, Bill, Bob and Richard Shock and one sister, Lucille Schnabel.
Mr. Shock was inducted into the U.S. Army on October 26, 1945 at Camp Atterbury rising to the rank of Private First Class serving during World War II in the 4108th Army Air Forces Base Unit and the 409 Medical Technician Unit. He was honorably discharged on May 9, 1947 from Mitchel Field, NY receiving the World War II Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the American Theater Medal. He retired in 1988 from Chrysler Corp. in Kokomo where he had worked for 32 years as an inspector in the gear lab. He also worked for several years at Super Valu Supermarket in Versailles and Vevay and the Marsh Supermarket in Indianapolis. He was also a member of the Mt. Sterling Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, September 7, 11 a.m. at Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home in Vevay with Rev. Mike Sawalich, Rev. Howard Wade and Rev. Charles Dayadharum officiating.
Burial was in the Slawson Cemetery in Bennington with full military honors conducted by the Vevay American Legion and VFW.
Memorials may go to the Mt. Sterling Baptist Church or Slawson Cemetery.

William R. Franklin
William R. Franklin, 76, of Holton passed away Thursday, September 2, 2004 at the Columbus Regional Hospital in Columbus, Indiana. He was born in the Forest Corner community near Holton on February 7, 1928 the son of Glenn and Josie Stratton Franklin. He was married to Elsie Andress on February 28, 1949 and she survives.
Other survivors include two sons Gerald and his wife Lois, Dennis and his wife Dixie all of Holton; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and one brother, Charles Franklin and his wife Bonnie of Versailles. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Elmer.
Mr. Franklin was a 1946 graduate of Holton High School and was an Army veteran of WWII where he served in Guam. He was a farmer and worked as a rural letter carrier for 31 years having retired in 1984. Mr. Franklin was also a 65 year member of the Holton Christian Church.
Funeral services were held Sunday, September 5 at 2:00 pm at the Holton Christian Church with Robert McCreary of the Holton Christian Church and Dale Day of the Versailles Church of Christ officiating. Burial was in the Holton Cemetery.

Erma K. Radican
Erma K. Radican, 85, of El Cajon, CA, died Wednesday, September 8, 2004 at her residence. She was born September 26, 1918 in Osgood the daughter of Charles and Wilhemina Meyer Fellerman, both deceased. She married James Edward Radican in 1940 and he preceded her in death in 1988.
Survivors include one daughter, Diane and her husband Jim Stolze of El Cajon, CA, one son, Charles Radican of Seattle, WA and one grandson. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Harry and Clarence Fellerman.
Mrs. Radican was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ (Finks) in Osgood and also attended the United Church of Christ in La Mesa, CA.
Visitation will be held Monday, September 13, 5-7 p.m. at Neal's Funeral Home in Osgood.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 14, 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the St. Peter's Cemetery in Osgood.
Memorials may go to the St. Peter's Cemetery.

Ruth A. Dougherty
Ruth A. Dougherty, 73, of Indianapolis, passed away September 3, 2004. She was born January 18, 1931 to Wilbur and Grace Crane Young.
Survivors include one son, Walter B. Dougherty, one daughter, Dawn E. Hundley, four grandchildren, Kara, Zach and Samantha Dougherty, Madison Hundley, one sister-in-law, Elaine Cook and family friend, Jeff Henry.
She graduated from Hanover College with a BA in English and Indiana University with a MA in Library Science. She was a Library Media Specialist for 29 years at the Indiana Girls School, retiring in 2003. She was a member of the Beech Grove United Methodist Church, Order of Eastern Star, 4-H leader, charter member of Classic Car Club of America, Pierce Arrow Society, Auburn Card Duesenburg Club, Peppsi Fire Truck Club and the Indiana Historical Society.
Memorial services will be held today, Thursday, September 9 at 1 p.m. at Beech Grove United Methodist Church, 102 S. 9th Ave., Beech Grove.
Graveside services will be held Friday, September 10 at 1 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Napoleon. Memorials may be made to the Beech Grove United Methodist Church Choir and Bells.

Daisy Jean
(Kemker) Linzy
Daisy Jean (Kemker) Linzy of Copperos Cove, Texas, passed away August 24, 2004 at her residence. She was born July 2, 1933 in Milan the daughter of Charles and Thresa (Beach) Kemker, both deceased.
Daisy graduated from Versailles High School in 1951. In 1952 she married Cecil Linzy and he survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Arnold and Charles, one daughter, Wendy Nelson, six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, four sisters, Katherine Holt of Versailles, Jane Adams of Osgood, Norma Suttman of Oldenburg, Pat Morris of Moores Hill, two brothers, Lloyd of Moores Hill and Bine of Osgood. She was preceded in death by one sister, Doris Smith and one brother, Lee.
Services were held August 28 at the Killeen Memorial Park Chapel in Texas. Burial was in the Killeen Memorial Park Cemetery in Texas.

Waunetta R. Zaenglein
Waunetta R. Zaenglein, 79, of Indianapolis, passed away Sunday, August 29, 2004 in Indianapolis. She was born in Ripley County on March 19, 1925 the daughter of Claude and Edith Rayner Palmer. She was married to Floyd Zaenglein and he survives.
Other survivors include her son Bill of Indianapolis; grandson Bobby Zaenglein; three brothers, Claude Palmer, Jr. of Osgood, Omer Palmer of Versailles and Ron Palmer of Holton; one sister, Bonnie Palmer of Holton.
Mrs. Zaenglein was a member of the St. Mark Lutheran Church and had worked as a bookkeeper for the Indiana-Kentucky Lutheran Synod office.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, September 1, at the Wilson-St. Pierre Funeral Home in Greenwood with burial in the New Crown Cemetery.

Edward Ester, 75, Korean War Veteran, life member of VFW Post 3233 of Sarasota, FL, retired General Motors Fisher Body Division of Chicago for 35 years.
Devoted husband of Beverly, nee Skoaski; loving father of either children, Theresa Wisdom of Frankfort, IL, Nancy Hemik of Naperville, Mary Jo (Gary) Grossi of Chicago Ridge, William Jr, (Sandra) Plikuhn of Trenton, FL, Lora (John) Lewis of Romeoville, IL, Cheryl (Dennis) Czyzewicz of Joliet, IL, Maria Newman of Romeoville, IL and Pamela (Timothy) Humphrey of Joilet, IL, grandfather of 26, great grandfather of nine, brother of Lloyd Ester of Port Richey, Fl, Doris Wietlisbach of Cincinnati, Donald (Rita) Ester of Sarasota, FL, the late Melvin and the late Lillian Rogers, brother-in-law Gordon and Tom Skolaski, fond uncle of many nieces and nephews.
