One man dead, one hospitalized after suspicious drug activity is reported

According to information from the Ripley County Sheriff's Department, Ronald D. Struckman, 39, was pronounced dead upon arrival at the Margaret Mary Community Hospital, Batesville, of a suspected drug overdose.

Officers responded to a call Saturday, October 23, at approximately 7:38 a.m. after they received a 911 report of two males who had possibly overdosed. When officers arrived at the Struckman residence located at 4540 N. Delaware Road they found Ronald D. Struckman, as well as Terry W. Struckman, 38, both in distress. Terry Struckman was also transported to the hospital where he was admitted and later released.

Responding along with officers from the Ripley County Sheriff's Department were members of Rescue 30, Task Unit One First Responders, and the Ripley County Paramedic Unit.

The Ripley County Sheriff's Department, along with the Ripley County Coroner's Office is investigating the death. The case remains open pending the results of the autopsy.
