Eagles open season with huge 84-46 win over South Ripley at Tyson Auditorium

Ripley County boys basketball kicked off last Tuesday when the Jac-Cen-Del Eagles visited long time rival the South Ripley Raiders at Tyson Auditorium. The Eagles grabbed a decisive victory handing the Raiders an 84-46 loss.

The Eagles jumped out to an early
lead they never lost. JCD's Tyler Einhaus gave them their first three points of the game with a three-pointer early in the first quarter. From there the Eagles went on to outscore South Ripley 19-9 to take a 22-9 lead after one quarter of play.

In the second quarter the Eagles pushed their lead to 18 early with two unanswered field goals by Tyler Einhaus and Chip Schuler. JCD con
tinued to pour on the offense outscoring the Raiders 20-9 in the second quarter. At halftime Jac-Cen-Del was leading 42-18.

The third quarter was the same story for the Raiders as they continued to slip behind without any answers. At the end of the quarter the Eagles had their biggest lead of the game at 33 points.

In the fourth quarter the Eagles' lead never fell under 30 points as they pushed their advantage to 38 before the final buzzer making the score 84-46.

As a team the Eagles shot 47.1% from the field for the game draining 10 of 18 three pointers. While South Ripley shot 35.1% hitting 4 out of 10 three's. The Raiders shot a dismal 2 for 13 from the free throw line.

Adam Peetz led all scorers with 23 points followed by Tyler Einhaus with 21, Chip Schuler with 14 and Andrew Huntington with 11. Peetz finished with a team high 8 rebounds followed by Schuler with 7 and Matt Hicks with 6.

Michael Fear was the Raiders' leading scorer with 14 points followed by Brandon Seabolt and Tony Lloyd with 8 each and Tyler Ester with 7. Lloyd grabbed a team high 8 rebounds followed by Jacob Lemon with 6.

In the JV game the Eagles defeated the Raiders by a score of 37-29. JCD's leading scorer was Brandon Gehl with 14 points followed by Adam Vollmer and Tucker Brown with 8 each.

Chandler Stearns and Trent Tucker were the Raiders' leading scorers with 7 points apiece.

Both teams play again this Friday with the Eagles traveling to Southwestern-Shelby and the Raiders hosting Oldenburg. Both games are scheduled to start at 6:00 pm with the JV playing first.

Eagles pick up second victory of the season

Jac-Cen-Del's basketball team is off to their best start in recent history picking up their second straight victory in as many tries so far this season with a 61-41 victory over Batesville last Saturday at home. With the win the Eagles push their record to 2-0 on the season. So far this season the Eagles have defeated their two opponents by an average of 27 points.

From the first quarter the Eagles were in total control of the ball game outscoring the Bulldogs 18-9 in the first. They outscored Batesville again in the second quarter 15-13 to give them a double-digit lead going into halftime. At the end of the first half t)he Eagles were leading 33-22.

For the first time all season the Eagles were outscored in a quarter when the Bulldogs outscored them 14-11 in the third quarter to cut the lead to 8. The Eagles retaliated in the fourth holding the Bulldogs to just 5 points while they added 17 to pick up the 20 point victory.

Adam Peetz was the Eagles' leading scorer with 28 points followed by Tyler Einhaus with 11 and Chip Schuler with 10. Schuler had a team high 8 rebounds followed by Einhaus with 6 and Peetz with 5. Peetz and Schuler also finished with 5 blocks each.
