Eagles continue to pound opponents with 25 point victory over S'western

Not only has Jac-Cen-Del's varsity boys basketball team defeated every team they've played, they are winning by an average of 27.7 points per game. Their latest victim was the Spartans from Southwestern-Shelby. The Eagles defeated the Spartans by a score of 70-45 to push their record to 3-0 on the season.

The Eagles took an early lead, doubling the Spartans' first quarter efforts with 16 points. Adam Peetz and Tyler Einhaus scored 10 of the Eagles' 16 first quarter points.

In the second quarter the Eagles held Southwestern to just 4 points while they added 22 to their total to take a 38-12 lead at halftime. Peetz's 13 first half points led the Eagles.

The third quarter was the same story as the Eagles added 17
points to their total while holding the Spartans to single digits again with 9.

In the fourth quarter Southwestern poured on the offense scoring 24 points to cut into the Eagles lead. But JCD's 15 fourth quarter points propelled them to the 25 point victory.

All but two Eagles scored in the contest with two players reaching double-digits. Adam Peetz led the Eagles with his first double-double of the season, scoring 16 points and grabbing 11 rebounds as well as a team high 6 blocks. Tyler Einhaus was the other Eagle to score in double-digits with 15 points, he also led the team with 6 assists. Kyle Horan and Justin Huff both chipped in 8 points each.

The Eagles look to continue their unbeaten streak this Friday on the road against North Decatur. That game is scheduled to start at 6:00 pm.

Raiders handed huge loss on the road against East Central

After defeating Oldenburg 56-48 on Friday night the Raiders suffered a huge loss to East Central on Saturday night. The Trojans beat the Raiders by a score of 75-48 at East Central. With the loss the Raiders' record falls to 2-2 on the season.

The Raiders didn't score for nearly the first 2:30 of the game while the Trojans scored 7 unanswered. Tony Lloyd broke the drought with a bucket to make the score 2-7. From there East Central went on to outscore the Raiders 18-2 to end the quarter with a 25-4 lead. Jacob Lemon's four personal fouls in the first quarter pretty much set the tone for the rest of the game.
East Central struck first in the second quarter with two free-throws to push their advantage to 23. The Raiders cut into the lead though with three straight field goals to make the score 27-10. Seventeen points was the closest the Raiders would get, which they managed to do several times in the second quarter, but at the end of the half the Trojans were leading by 19 at 40-21.

The Trojans opened the second half with a 15-6 scoring run to push their advantage to 28 points. From there the Raiders cut into the lead just a little bit getting no closer than 25 points. At the end of the third quarter the Raiders were behind 31
points.

South Ripley still continued to fall behind in the fourth quarter when the Trojans came out nailing a three-pointer to push their advantage to a game high 34 points. From that point the Raiders went on to outscore EC 14-9 in the quarter to cut the lead to 27 points before the final buzzer.

Tony Lloyd and Michael Fear lead South Ripley with 16 points each. Tyler Ester chipped in 8 points and a team high 3 assists. Fear led the team with 6 rebounds in the contest.

South Ripley plays again this Friday at home against Shawe. That game is scheduled to start at 6:00 pm.
