The Jac-Cen-Del Lady
Eagles continued their excellent defense to defeat
conference foe Milan on Tuesday night. The Lady
Eagles defeated the Lady Indians 62-23 to push
their record over .500 at 4-3. The Indians' record
however drops to 1-8 on the season.
In the first quarter the Lady Eagles
started off hot outscoring their opponent 15-3.
Janelle Hardesty netted five points in the quarter
to help give JCD their lead.
Milan scored 10 points in the second
quarter, but the Eagles scored 16 to take a 31-13
lead going into halftime. Emily Einhaus scored
6 of JCD's 16 second quarter points.
The Lady Eagles came out hot again
in the third quarter, adding 16 more to their
total. The defense continued to prove strong
holding Milan to another single-digit quarter
with 6 points. Hardesty and Einhaus led the way
with 6 points each in the quarter.
In the fourth quarter the Lady
Eagles stayed on pace with another 15 points
to Milan's 4 to make the
final score 62-23. Six players
on JCD's team scored in the fourth quarter alone.
Janelle Hardesty led the Lady Eagles
with 15 points. Emily Einhaus celebrated her
16th birthday nearly matching her age with 14
points. Traci Sieberts chipped in 7 points and
had a team high 7 rebounds. Cassidy Krieg, Erika
Simon and Amanda Harmeyer each scored 6 points
and Talena Huff and Abby Rohlfing chipped in
4 points apiece. Rohlfing also recorded a team
high 5 blocks. The Lady Eagles missed just two
free-throws in the contest going 11 for 13. They
also shot an outstanding 47% from the field draining
25 out of 53 shots.
Megan Lade led Milan with 8 points
followed by Lacee Alloway with 6 and Katie Volz
and Kiley MacVey with 3 each. The Lady Indians
struggled from the field connecting on just 7
out of 51 shots for a morbid 13% field goal shooting.
They also had a hard time on free-throws hitting
just 9 out of 27 attempts.
Both teams play again this week
with Jac-Cen-Del traveling to Trinity Lutheran
on Thursday and the
Lady Indians traveling to Lawrenceburg
on Saturday. JCD's game is scheduled to start
at 6:00 pm while Milan's is scheduled to start
at 12:00 pm.
