Eagles continue to easily defeat opponents and keep perfect season alive

Jac-Cen-Del's boys basketball team continued their perfect season with two more easy victory last Friday and Saturday night. With the two wins the Eagles push their record to 6-0 on the season.

In their first game the Eagles defeated Southwestern-Hanover 57-38, which was JCD's Homecoming.

The Eagles scored 22 points in the first quarter to the Rebels' 4 to all but seal the deal. Adam Peetz and Andrew Huntington combined to score 13 of the Eagles' 22 points in the quarter.

In the second quarter JCD was outscored 8-6 but still went into halftime with a 28-12 lead. Peetz had a team high 10 points going into halftime.

The Eagles were outscored again in the second quarter, 18-15 but still were holding on to the lead. In the fourth quarter, however, the Eagles got back into stride holding Southwestern to just 8 points while they added 14 to grab the 19 point victory.

Peetz led the Eagles with a double-double, scoring 13 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. Andrew Huntington was next on the scoring list with 12 points followed by Derek Jones with 10 and Justin Huff with 8.

In their second game of the weekend the Eagles easily defeated the visiting Rising Sun Shiners by a score of 67-40.

The Eagles fell behind early when they were outscored 17-9 in the first quarter, but picked up the defense in
the second quarter. JCD allowed the Shiners just 2 points in the second quarter while they scored 19 to take over the lead. Going into halftime the Eagles were leading 28-19.

JCD added to their lead in the third quarter outscoring their opponent 13-10. The score going into the final quarter was 41-29 in favor of JCD.

In the fourth quarter the Eagles scored a season high 26 points to put the game out of reach. The Shiners added 11 to their total in the fourth quarter. Adam Peetz scored 13 points
in the fourth quarter on his way to a game high 26 points.

Tyler Einhaus was the Eagles' second leading scorer with 12 points followed by Kyle Horan with 8 and Andrew Huntington with 7.

Peetz had a team high 8 rebounds and 4 steals. Einhaus led the Eagles with 6 assists.

The Eagles don't play again until the Ripley County Tourney, which will be on December 5 at Batesville High School. They will be playing against Milan in the first game, which is scheduled to start at 6:00 pm.

Raiders squeak past S. Decatur then easily defeat Switz. Co.

South Ripley squeezed by South Decatur on Friday night 49-48 at home, then turned around and defeated Switzerland County 71-50 on the road Saturday night to pick up their fourth and fifth wins of the season. With the two wins the Raiders' record now stands at 5-2 on the season.

Against South Decatur the Raiders fell behind by a point early when they were outscored 17-16 in the first quarter.

From their both teams scored evenly in both the second and third quarters to keep the score within one point going into the fourth quarter. Both teams scored 7 points in the second quarter, then they both scored 11 points in the third quarter.

In the fourth quarter the two teams continued to score back and forth until the final five seconds of the game. The Raiders had the ball with the score tied and were looking for the last second shot. Brandon Seabolt was fouled with 1.8 left on the clock and a chance at two free-throws. He hit one to give SR the one point lead. The Cougars got the ball in bounds and launched a shot from the other end of the
court, which hit the back board and the rim but missed. The Raiders squeezed by 49-48.

Tyler Ester was the Raiders' leading scorer with 16 points followed by Tony Lloyd with 12 and Brandon Seabolt with 9.

The Raiders' game against Switzerland County wasn't so close. They fell behind after one quarter of play 19-17 but took over from there.

South Ripley outscored the Pacers 38-20 in the next two quarters to take a 55-39 lead going into the fourth quarter.

In the fourth quarter the Raiders outscored Switzerland County 16-11 to grab the 21 point victory.

Tony Lloyd led SR with 15 points and 9 rebounds. Next on the scoring list was Brandon Seabolt and Tyler Ester with 13 points apiece followed by Jacob Lemon with 10 and Michael Mathews and Michael Fear with 6 each. Seabolt had a team high 6 assists.

The Raiders don't play again until the Ripley County Tournament, which will start on January 5 at Batesville High School. The Raiders are playing against Batesville in the second game which will start immediately following the first game. The first game is scheduled to start at 6:00 pm.
