Funeral services held for Daniel Jachimiak

Daniel Peter Jachimiak, 17, of Versailles passed away on Thursday, February 17, at the Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis.

Daniel had been battling a rare form of cancer since his diagnosis in August 2003. Churches and organizations had come together on different occasions to help the family by having fundraisers to help with medical expenses.

The church community had also prayed for a miracle. Daniel and his parents shared a strong faith in God and his father, Peter noted, "On Thursday at 7:10 a.m. Daniel got his miracle and got to go home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ."

Daniel's faith was evident in his life as he ministered to others even at his lowest point. He was a member of the Cavehill Church of God where he served as the sound technician for the church. He also participated in the church youth group and was on the drama team.

A junior at the Cavehill Christian Academy, Daniel was a student of art. He was consistently on the Honor Roll and also the Pastor's Honor Roll. He was musically inclined and played the keyboard and violin. He enjoyed playing video games.

Daniel was born at Madison on October 2, 1987, to Peter and Angela Montgomery Jachimiak of Versailles. Other survivors include a brother Michael Highlander of Versailles; paternal grandmother Barbara Jachimiak of Versailles; maternal grandmother Carol Moody of West Harrison, along with several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather ,Carl Jachimiak and maternal grandfather, Earl Moody.

Funeral services were held Monday, February 21, at 10:00 a.m. at the Cavehill Church of God with Pastor Pearl Cornett officiating. Burial was in the Tanglewood Cemetery.

The Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home, Versailles, was in charge of the arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Ronald McDonald House, Riley Hospital cancer research, or the Cavehill Christian Academy, in care of the funeral home.
