Jac-Cen-Del honors winter athletes at annual Winter Sports Awards Banquet

Jac-Cen-Del High School honored their winter athletes at their annual Winter Sports Awards Banquet on Tuesday, March 29 in the high school gym. The teams honored were boys freshmen basketball team, girls varsity and reserve basketball teams, boys varsity and reserve basketball and the varsity and reserve cheerleading teams.

Freshmen Boys Basketball

The first team honored was the freshmen boys' basketball team. The coach of this year's team was Roy Thomas. They finished the season with a record of 9-7.

This year's team was made up of Brock Billman, David Busch, Donald Chadwell, Aaron Harmeyer, Eric Horan, Coty Horn, Andrew Huff, Austin Lord, Dustin Payne, Michael Rork, Clint Siebert, Kellen Stolze and Jeremy Wagner.

Award winners this year were David Busch- Scholastic (10.75), Aaron Harmeyer- Free Throw Award and Most Improved, Andrew Huff- Most Determined and Kellen Stolze- Mental Attitude.

Reserve Girls Basketball

Maurice Meyer was the coach of this year's girls reserve basketball team, which finished the season with a record of 10-5. The team this year was made up of Kaylin Ploeger, Carissa Simon, Kiersten Young, Abby Morehead, Kari Levi, Paige Thomas, Tasha Krieg and Kara Harlemert.

The award winners this year were Kaylin Ploeger- Free Throw Award, Carissa Simon- Most Improved, Abby Morehead- Most Determined, Kara Harlemert- Scholastic (10.08) and Kiersten Young- Mental Attitude.

Reserve Boys Basketball

Coaching this year's boys reserve basketball team was Steve Narwold. The team finished the season with a record of 14-4 and were crowned the ORVC Champions.

The team was made up of Blake Billman, Tyler Bradshaw, Craig Horan, Bryan Schwanholt, Adam Vollmer, Tucker Brown, Daniel Leonetti, Andrew Wagner, Thomas Wenning, Andrew Wolff and Brandon Gehl.

The award winners this year were Andrew Wagner- Scholastic (11.42), Adam Vollmer- Free Throw Award and Most Improved, Brandon Gehl- Most Determined and Tucker Brown- Mental Attitude.

Varsity and Reserve Cheerleaders

Following the boys reserve basketball team on the program was the varsity and reserve cheerleaders. This year's sponsors were Sue Bunselmeier and Cindy Toops.

The JV squad was made up of Leslie Brancamp, Kaitlyn Hughes, Megan Jones, Abby Morehead and Rachel Toops.

Award winners for the reserve squad were Leslie Brancamp- Scholastic (11.28) and Kaitlyn Hughes- Mental Attitude.

The varsity squad was made up of Abby Coyle, Katie Gilland, Kara
Harlemert, Laura Hicks, Amber Lunsford and Kalenia Simon.

The award winner from the varsity squad were Katie Gilland- Outstanding Cheerleader and Kalenia Simon and Amber Lunsford- Mental Attitude

Varsity Girls Basketball

Scott Smith was the coach of this year's girls varsity basketball team, which finished the season with a record of 14-9 and were the champions of the 1A sectional played at JCD.

The team was made up of Traci Siebert, Cassidy Krieg, Alisha Lord, Janelle Hardesty, Abby Lauber, Emily Einhaus, Abby Rohlfing, Talena Huff, Amanda Harmeyer and Erika Simon. Several reserve players received a varsity certificate for playing some on the varsity level, they were Andrea Rogers, Kiersten Young, Kaylin Ploeger, Abby Morehead and Carissa Simon. The managers of this year's team were Lindsay Payne, Justin Eaton and Luke Grow.

Two Lady Eagles were named to the All-Conference Team including Emily Einhaus and Janelle Hardesty. Hardesty and Einhaus were also named to the All-Sectional and All-County Teams with Hardesty being named the MVP of the All-Sectional Team. Joining them on the All-Sectional Team were Abby Rohlfing and Alisha Lord and joining them on the All-County Team was Erika Simon.

The award winners were Janelle Hardesty- MVP, Free Throw Award and Assists Award, Amanda
Harmeyer- Scholastic (11.00), Traci Siebert- Captains Award, Cassidy Krieg- Hustler Award, Emily Einhaus- Leading Rebounder and Abby Rohlfing- Most Improved.

Varsity Boys Basketball

Wrapping up the banquet was the boys varsity basketball team. Long time coach David Bradshaw was the coach of this year's team, which finished the season with an outstanding record of 19-3.

The team was made up of Adam Peetz, Tyler Einhaus, Andrew Huntington, Derek Jones, Chip Schuler, Matt Hicks, Kyle Horan and Justin Huff. Receiving letters this year from the JV team were Brandon Gehl, Tucker Brown, Tyler Bradshaw and Bryan Schwanholt. The teams managers were Kurt Miller and Ben Demaree. The statisticians were Amanda Harmeyer, Abby Rohlfing, Abby Lauber, Kiersten Young and Emily Einhaus.

Tyler Einhaus, Adam Peetz and Derek Jones were all named to the All-County team with Einhaus being named the MVP. Einhaus and Peetz were also named to the All-Conference Team.

Award winners were Adam Peetz- MVP and Leading Rebounder, Kyle Horan- Scholastic (11.00), Chip Schuler- Captain Award, Kyle Horan- Hustler Award, Andrew Huntington- Most Improved and Tyler Einhaus- Free Throw Award and Assists Award. Adam Peetz was also presented with the 24th annual William "Tiny" Hunt Memorial Basketball Award.
