Good News Club begins at JCD

With 77 students registered and in attendance
on Tuesday, March 29, Jac-Cen-Del Elementary School was the
scene for the beginning of the third "Good News Club" in
Ripley County.
Meeting after school in the elementary gym, the students from
kindergarten through sixth grade took part in the kick-off
meeting that featured Magical Dan from Merry Go Clowns, Etc.
as entertainment.
Team Leader and Coordinator Steve Huntington was assisted
by 29 adult volunteers, including five pastors from the Osgood
community. Helping to get the Osgood club organized were Casey
Speer, director of Southern Indiana Child Evangelism Fellowship,
and Bridget Back, Ripley County coordinator for CEF.
According to Back, who coordinates the "Good News Club" at
South Ripley Elementary School, the next five weeks will be "a
great time for any new schools wanting to start a club to visit
JCD to see their club in action."
The South Ripley club is in its second year as is the club
in Batesville. A nondenominational fellowship, Good News clubs
are formed for the purpose of introducing the gospel to elementary
students.
Clubs meet once a week after school for instruction in God's
word, fellowship with other students and leaders, and a social
period. Music and prayer time are also included in the after-school
activity.
Noting that it is a blessing to see what happens when all
God's people come together, Back added, "What a blessing
for each of us to be a part of what God is doing in Southern
Indiana!"
Back is hoping to find volunteers and leadership to organize
a club for kindergarten through sixth grade at Milan.
