Those interested in learning more about the new
Homeland Security Training Base, are invited to attend an informational
meeting on Wednesday, April 27, at the Holton Community Center,
located on Versailles Street.
The Ripley County Economic Development Corporation in partnership
with the Ripley County Tourism Bureau and the Ripley County
Chamber of Commerce, will be hosting the event that is set
to begin promptly at 6:30 p.m. The doors will open at 6:00
p.m.
"We are very honored to be hosting this information meeting," noted
Pam Sander, executive director for the Ripley County Economic
Development Corporation. She further stated, "We hope
that retail and service related business owners will attend,
elected officials, and anyone who is wanting to learn more
about this project. Our goal is to have standing room only
for this very informational presentation."
The keynote speaker will be Brigadier General Clif Tooley.
He will present an overall scope of the Homeland Security Training
project, along with discussing the potential economic impact
this project could have. It is believed that Ripley County
will feel the economic impact as well as Jennings County, where
the facility is located. "We are very excited about the
potential economic impact this could have for our local communities
in Ripley County," stated Sander.
Reservations are not required for the event, however, the
doors will open at 6:00 p.m. and organizers of the meeting
say they expect a full house. Refreshments will be provided.
There will be directional signs for the facility on US 50,
for those traveling both east and west.
