Osgood informed about violation of ordinances

Sam Row, president of the Ripley County Area
Planning Commission and Osgood's representative to the board,
appeared before the Osgood Town Board to inform them the county
has been redoing its ordinances. They are currently working
with Abandoned and/or Unsafe Buildings and Junk Cars. Row said
there are currently ten violations in Osgood the county will
be pursuing.
At the regular meeting of the Osgood Town Board held April
19, it was noted The Indiana Association of Cities and Towns
(IACT) is holding their annual "If I Were Mayor" Essay
Contest. The sixth grade class at Jac-Cen-Del completed the
essays and the top three were chosen to be sent to IACT.
Those students are: Travis Hardesty, Becca Wagner and Andi
Roberts. Council voted to award the top three entries $25.00
each.
The Osgood Community Partnership, sponsored by the Osgood
Lions Club, has scheduled May 3, for Osgood Clean Up Day. Local
grade
school students will be performing this community service project. Council
would like to show their appreciation by allowing the students to visit the
Red Barn for an ice cream or soda after the completion of the event.
Tony Wood, wastewater superintendent, reported all the sludge
has been hauled. He has received the final permit for 44 more
acres of farmland for sludge hauling. The South Maple Street
sewer line has been replaced and he will be ordering pipe for
more jobs to be completed.
Street Superintendent Steve
Wilhoit reported the Walnut Street Storm Water is going very well. He also
said there is a problem with people dumping items at the south quarry and
the gas/street office.
In other business:
· A letter will be sent to the Town of Napoleon formalizing
Osgood's provisions of natural gas service.
· Linkel Co. was chosen for garbage pick-up.
· Osgood received $6,310.77 from the Federal and State
Emergency Management Agency for the Snow Emergency in December
of
2004.
· The cost for street patching and paving the firehouse
will be $30,025.
· The town has instructed Mary Ann Gay to begin working
on the annexation of property.
All three town board members were present: Jeff Volz, Paul
Struckman, and Linda Krinop. Attorney Mary Ann Gay and Clerk-Treasurer
Tammy Wilhoit were present to advise the board. The next meeting
of the Osgood Town Board will be held on May 17 at 7:00 p.m.
at the Osgood Town Hall.
