Milan defeats Southwestern and South Decatur

The Milan varsity baseball team defeated Southwestern 10-2 on April 20 and South Decatur 15-1 on April 21.

Terrill Ash gave up only 2 hits and struck out five against Southwestern in an ORVC game at home. Wes Edwards pitched 2 innings in relief of Ash and struck out five while allowing 3 hits.

Leading hitters were Sean Wegman and Brian Beard with 2 each. Terrill Ash and Derek Pennington each got a hit and 2 RBI's with Pennington's hit being a long triple to left field.

Daniel Fleming and Andy McIntosh each got hits to help the Indians run their record to 3 wins and 1 loss in the ORVC.

Derek Pennington had a hot bat in the last two games going 4 for 5 at the plate with a single, double, triple and home run along with 4 RBI's. He also pitched an outstanding game against South Decatur allowing only 2 hits while striking out 5.

Daniel Fleming continued his goal hitting with 2 hits against South Decatur. Bob Stanley, Andy McIntosh, Brandon Montooth, Sean Wegman, Wes Edward and Ben

Shafer led the 11 hit attack. Wegman and Shafer contributed 2 RBI's in the victory that ran Milan's record to 7-5 on the season.
Congratulations to Terrill Ash who was the ORVC baseball player of the week.

Ash had 9 hits in 14 at bats, scored 3 runs, had 8 RBI's and a home run to gain ORVC honors.

Jac-Cen-Del varsity wins at Franklin Co.

The Jac-Cen-Del varsity baseball team traveled to Franklin County on Monday, April 25 for a non-conference game. JCD won the contest by a score of 5-4.

Jac-Cen-Del plated four runs in the second and one run in the third. Franklin Co. scored two runs in the first and two runs in the seventh.

The Eagles had ten hits in the game. Players with hits were: Adam Vollmer, 1 for 4, one run scored, 1 RBI; Chip Schuler 2 for 4, one double, 1 triple, 2 RBI's; Justin Huff, 1 for 4, 1 RBI; Bryan Schwanholt, 1 for 3; Kyle Horan 1 for 3, 1 double; Tyler Bradshaw, 1 for 3; Daniel Leonetti, 1 for 3, 1 RBI; Blake Billman, 1 for 3, 1 double.

Bryan Schwanholt was the winning pitcher scattering 6 hits.

Brad Buckler was the losing pitcher for Franklin Co.
