Saturday, April 30 the Jac-Cen-Del
varsity baseball team swept the
Hauser Jets in a double-header
at Jac-Cen-Del. The Eagles got
on the board in the first inning
when Bryan Schwanholt knocked
in Chip Schuler. Schuler then
scored another run in the third
on a wild pitch.
Hauser finally
scored in the fifth, when they
had two runners cross the plate.
Jac-Cen-Del came back with a
run in the bottom of the fifth,
for a final score of 3-2. Adam
Peetz was the winning pitcher
and threw a complete game. He
retired the first six and struck
out the first three hitters.
He gave up two runs, none earned,
off of three hits and had seven
strike outs. All three of the
runs the Eagles scored were unearned.
In the second game
the Eagles came out on fire scoring
three runs in the first. Hauser
manufactured a run in the third,
and added three more in the fourth.
The Eagles answered back and
scored four runs in the bottom
of the fourth, and another in
the sixth. Hauser tried to rally
back in the seventh, scoring
three runs, but the Eagles were
able to hold on to get the win,
for a final score of 8-7. Brandon
Gehl picked up the win. He game
up seven runs, three earned,
off of eight hits and struck
out four in six 6 2/3 innings.
Bryan Schwanholt came in to pick
up the save throwing 1/3 of an
inning. The Eagles now have won
four straight, and are 8-4 on
the season.
