Phillippe shoots Raiders' low score

On May 9, the South Ripley golf team hosted the Switzerland County Pacers and the Oldenburg Twisters at the Pine Hills Golf Course.

The Twisters won the meet with a 182. The Raiders came close to the Twisters but took second with a 189, and the Pacers shot a 197 to finish up in third. The top performer for the Raiders in that meet was A.J. Phillippe with a 44.

On May 10, the golf team traveled to the Vineyards to compete against the Rising Sun Shiners and the Southwestern Rebels. The Shiners won the meet with a 169. The Raiders and the Rebels tied for second with a 196. Phillippe was once again the top performer for the Raiders with a score of 45.

The Raiders next meet will be tonight, May 17, against the Rising Sun Shiners and the Milan Indians.

Eagles JV baseball wins five straight

The Jac-Cen-Del junior varsity baseball team has now won five straight games. They picked up their first win of the streak at North Decatur on April 29. Tucker Brown, David Busch, and Andrew Huff were all 3-4 in the game and Zach Simon was 3-3 with two RBI's and two runs scored. Brown drove in five runs and scored three times. Huff knocked in two runs, and crossed the plate twice. Brown was the winning pitcher giving up two unearned runs. The Eagles won by a final score of 15-2.

The Eagles then beat the Twisters at Oldenburg on May 2. Zach Simon was 4-5 with three RBI's and two runs scored. Tucker Brown was also 3-4 scoring four runs and knocking in one. Eric Horan was 2-3 on the night with one run scored. Brock Billman was the winning pitcher, giving up six runs, two earned, off of five hits with four strikeouts to defeat the Twisters 14-6.

The Eagles then blew out another opponent defeating Shawe Memorial on May 4 at Madison 9-2. Coty Horn was 4-4 with a triple, two RBI's and a run scored. Aaron Harmeyer was 1-2 scoring twice. David Busch picked up the victory only allowing two runs, one earned, off of two hits and struck out three Hilltoppers.

In the Eagles next victory, they defeated the Milan Indians on May 6 by a score of 9-3. Aaron Harmeyer was 3-4 with an RBI and a run scored. Andrew Huff was 2-4 with two RBI's and also a run scored. Tucker Brown was the winning pitcher throwing a complete game and striking out ten Milan batters.

On May 9 the junior varsity Eagles took on South Ripley at home. David Busch and Zach Simon were both 2-3, scoring two runs each. Busch drove in one run, while Simon brought in four runs including a two-run homerun over the center field fence.

There were three homeruns in the contest. Brock Billman was the winning pitcher throwing five innings and giving up five runs, four earned, for a narrow Eagle victory of 9-8.

The Jac-Cen-Del junior varsity baseball team is now 8-2 on the season and 6-1 in conference play.
