Jennifer Rogers joins RPC staff

Jennifer Rogers, a Ball State University journalism
student, has joined the Ripley Publishing Company staff as
a summer intern, according to Publisher Linda Chandler.
"We're excited that she's here, and we are looking forward
to working with her," Chandler said. "She's a very
talented young lady."
The daughter of Jeff and Jane Rogers of Versailles, Jennifer
completed her freshman year at Ball State, where she is majoring
in Journalism Graphics. In addition to her classes, she has
worked on the Ball State Daily News and Expo, the campus magazine.
The Journalism Department named her as one of the "rising
stars in journalism" at the end-of-the-year awards banquet.
She was also inducted into Alpha Lambda Delta, scholastic honorary
society for freshmen, as a result of a 3.8 GPA and making the
Dean's List for the fall semester.
A 2004 graduate of South Ripley High School, Jennifer ranked
third in her class scholastically and served as editor of the
student newspaper Raiders Riot. She was the recipient of the
Harry Thompson Memorial Scholarship, the Moorhead Print Media
Scholarship, and the Ohio Rod Journalism Award.
During her high school days she was a member of Young Confeder
ates and the Flag Corps as well as National Honor Society.
She is a member of the Versailles Baptist Church, where she
has served as president of the American Baptist Youth and participated
in the choir. Jennifer received both the Laughery Association
Brotherhood scholarship and the American Baptist Women's Ministry
scholarship in the state of Indiana.
Concerning her internship at Ripley Publishing Company, Jennifer
said, "The experience of actually working on a newspaper
will be invaluable for my journalism career. I look forward
to learning a great deal from the assignments and activities
at the newspaper office."
