Sudents at Jac-Cen-Del have created a web-site
focused on Osgood 2006, the town's sesquicentennial. The web
site has the history of Jac-Cen-Del sports, a section on the
Underground railroad, a tribute to Gilmore and Golda Reynolds,
a section on German American Heritage and other history. The
students will be improving and updating the sites every year
as a project.
Jac-Cen-Del Jr. Sr. High School Principal Ray
Ratledge reported to the school board at the May 17, meeting,
that the 2005 Senior Trip to Washington and New York was a
great success. This year Kelvin Comer organizedthe trip saving
the school hundreds of dollars by not using a tour guide. There
were 40 students from the senior class who attended. Permission
was given for the senior class sponsors to begin making plans
for the 2006 senior trip.
Principal Ratledge also advised he would be recommending seven
7th grade students who will be retained and a possibility of
10 to 12 more students pending passing summer school remediation.
Corporation Treasurer, Ruth Ann Peetz, reported receipt of
the first Property Tax Replacement Credit from the county treasurer
in the amount of $62,029. The Department of Local Government
Finance reduced the Pre-School Fund and the School Bus Replacement
budgets from what was advertised in the 2005 budget. A resolution
for the reduction of appropriation was prepared for the board's
approval.
The board accepted the retirement of Judy Werner effective
August 17. Annette Adams resigned as corporation bus driver
effective May 17.
Breakfast and lunch prices were approved for
both schools for the 2005-2006 school year: junior/senior breakfast
will
be $1.25 and lunch $1.50. At the elementary school, breakfast
will be $1.00 and lunch $1.25. Adult lunches at both buildings
will
be $2.25.
Graduation (with 61 seniors participating) will
be on Saturday, May 28. The awards program will be held the
night before. The last student day will be May 24.
All five board members were present: John Billman, Kathleen
Dickman, Deanne Young, Charlie Hughes and Paul Hardy. Superintendent
Bill Narwold and Attorney Tim Day were present to advise the
board. The next regular meeting of the Jac-Cen-Del Board of
Trustees will be held on Tuesday, June 21, in the Jac-Cen-Del
Elementary School Library.
