Edna M. Sidell
Edna M. Sidell, 73, of Batesville, died Tuesday, May 24, 2005 at Christ Hospital, Cincinnati. She was born January 11, 1932 in Oldenburg, the daughter of Joseph Giesting and Catherine (Harpring) Giesting, both deceased. She married Charles Sidell on July 17, 1954 at Holy Family Church in Oldenburg and he survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Bonnie Sohngen of Cincinnati, Peggy Lecher of Batesville; three sons, Joseph Sidell of St. Leon, Randy Sidell of Oldenburg, Lawrence Sidell of Batesville; three sisters, Pauline Gillman of Harrison, Ohio, Cleopha Hirt of Batesville, Rosemary Stercz of Cincinnati; one brother, Joseph Giesting of Batesville and nine grandchildren. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Leonard, Frank, John, Virgil and Arnold Giesting.
Mrs. Sidell was a member of the St. Louis Church, Batesville and the St. Louis Ladies Society. She was a homemaker.
Visitation will be held Thursday, May 26, from 4-7 p.m. at Weigel Funeral Home, Batesville. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 27 at 11 a.m. at the St. Louis Church, Batesville with Rev. Christiaan Kappes officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Louis Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Margaret Mary Hospital Home Health Care or the American Kidney Foundation.

Alverta Knowlton
Alverta Knowlton, 91, of Milan, died Tuesday, May 24, 2005 at her residence. She was born April 11, 1914 in Lawrenceburg, the daughter of George and Lena (Smith) Redding. She married William Leonard Knowlton on October 7, 1942 and he preceded her in death on April 29, 2005.
Survivors include two sons, Keith Allen Knowlton and wife Josia of Valdosta, GA, Kenneth William Knowlton of Milan; one brother, John Redding of Tulsa, OK; one sister, Angela Redding of Greendale; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Five sisters and two brothers preceded her in death.
Mrs. Knowlton was a homemaker and a member of the Moores Hill United Methodist Church.
Private funeral services will be held Friday, May 27, with Pastor Carl Martin officiating.

Albert Jones
Albert Jones, 63, of Milan, died Monday, May 16, 2005 at his residence. He was born April 19, 1942 in Longfork, Kentucky, the son of Henry and Millie Cornett Jones. He married Anna Lee Halcomb on March 10, 1967 in Clintwood, Virginia and she survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Rachaelle Hall of Milan, Callie Jones of Sunman; two sons, James Jones of Hallie, KY, Rob Jones of Osgood; five grandchildren; two sisters, Odessa Lewis of Longfork, Ky, Dorothy Roark of Scipio and two brothers, Bruce and Delbert Jones both of Longfork, Ky. One sister, Rachel Mullins and one brother, Cecil Jones preceded him in death.
Mr. Jones was an army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Big Creek Old Regular Baptist Church in DuPont.
Visitation will be held Thursday, May 19, 4-8 p.m. slow time at the Cook Funeral Home, Sunman. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 20, 11 a.m. at the Little Memory Old Regular Baptist Church near Spades with Charles Shepard, Doug Gibson and Don Halcomb officiating. Burial will be in the Little Memory Cemetery with graveside military honors.

Verland King
Verland King, 84, of Versailles, died Wednesday, May 18, 2005. Services are pending at Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home, Versailles.

Franklin W. Konkle
Franklin W. Konkle, 83, of Noblesville, died Tuesday, May 10, 2005 at his residence. He was born October 7, 1921 in Versailles, the son of Leslie and Allie (Harper) Konkle, both deceased. He married Josephine Konkle on May 15, 1943 and she survives.
Other survivors include one brother, Robert Keith Konkle; one nephew, John Robert Konkle and one niece, Julie Ann Illes.
Mr. Konkle was a member of the Noblesville First Christian Church, Noblesville Masonic Lodge #57 F&AM, and a lifetime member of the American Legion. He was a US Army veteran, serving in WWII. He was awarded the EAME Theater Ribbon with five bronze stars and one silver star. He was a 1939 graduate of Versailles High School.
Visitation will be held Thursday, May 12, 3-5 p.m. at Randall & Roberts Funeral Home, Noblesville. A Masonic service will be held at 5 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 13, 2 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Frank Hibbard officiating. Burial will follow in the Crownland Cemetery, Noblesville.
Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church or the American Cancer Society.

Glenn Miller
Funeral services for Glenn Miller of Hamilton, Ohio, took place on Saturday, April 30, at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Hamilton with the Weigel Funeral Home in charge. After a long battle with cancer, Miller passed away on Thursday, April 27, just one week after his mother Hallie Miller's death at age 103.
Born May 5, 1935, to the late Charles and Hallie Miller, Glenn spent his early years living at Old Timbers in the area of the Jefferson Proving Ground. His father had built the lodge for Alexander Thompson, founder of Champion Paper Company. Later when the government took over the land for the proving ground, the family first moved to Seven Mile and then to Millville, Ohio, into a home Charlie Miller had built.
Mr. Miller graduated from Ross High School in 1953 and then took a position with Champion Paper Company that he maintained until his retirement in 1995. He was married to his high school sweetheart Jane Landfair of Oxford, Ohio in 1955, and the two would have celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary on September 10.
Preceding him in death were his parents Charles and Hallie Miller and his brother Don Miller. Survivors in addition to his wife Jane are two sons and two daughters: Bill Miller and wife Kim; Debbie Kern and husband Steve; Steve Miller and wife Alisa; and Carole Poffingbarger and husband Karl. Glenn had eight grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends who mourn his death.
Among the surviving relatives are cousins Jane and Jess Westmeyer of Versailles; Roger Freudenstein of Hudson, Florida; Suzanne and Cliff Giltner of Bright; and Bill and Esther Gilland of Olean.

Mildred L. Meister
Mildred L. Meister, 87, of Yorkville, died Tuesday, May 10, 2005 at the Dearborn County Hospital, Lawrenceburg. She was born June 27, 1917 in Southgate, the son of Henry F. and Louisa Wolber Oehlman, both deceased. She married Joseph Meister and he preceded her in death on May 1, 2001.
Survivors include one daughter, Evelyn Meyer of Aurora; two sons, Larry Meister of Lawrenceburg, Lloyd Meister of Napoleon; four grandchildren; three step grandchildren and one step great-grandchild. One brother Wilbur Oehlman preceded her in death.
Mrs. Meister was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church, Hubbell's Corner. She was a homemaker.
Visitation will be Friday, May 13, 4-7 p.m. at the Cook Funeral Home, Sunman and after 12 noon at the church on Saturday, May 14. Funeral services will be Saturday, May 14, 1 p.m. at the St. John Lutheran Church with Rev. Gary Groth officiating. Burial will follow in the St. John Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the St. John Cemetery Association or the Sunman Life Squad.

Ronald Dunn
Ronald Dunn "Butch", 62, of Dillsboro, died Sunday, May 8, 2005 at Good Samaritan Hospital, Cincinnati. He was born June 29, 1942 in Dillsboro the son of Walter Dunn and Mary Stalder, both deceased.
Mr. Dunn was a machinist.
Survivors include two sons, Robert Dunn of Bright and Joseph M. Dunn of Aurora; two grandchildren, Ashley Dunn and Nathan Dunn, both of St. Leon and one sister, Patricia Yeory of Dillsboro.
Funeral services were held today, Thursday, May 12 at 11 a.m. at the Ulrich-Filter Funeral Home, Dillsboro. Burial followed in the Riverview Cemetery, Aurora.
Memorials may be made to the family.

Shirley J. Rednour
Shirley J. Rednour, 72, of Greenfield, died Monday, May 2, 2005. She was born in Indianapolis on June 10, 1932 to Glover and Marian (Kelly) Moreland who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Rednour co-owned and operated James H. Rednour Construction Company with her husband. Memberships include Indianapolis Historical Society and the Indianapolis Genealogical Society.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years, James H. Rednour; children Patricia M. Rednour of Florida, Susan M. Rednour of Indianapolis, Paula M. Mullica, James R. (Davett) Rednour, Sr., Cherie L. (Bruce A.) DeLong all of Greenfield, Susan C. (Jimmy) Abbett of Indianapolis, Shirley L. (Dennis) Hollmann of Vermont; thirteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brothers Max Moreland of Versailles, Butch Moreland, Don Moreland, Ron Moreland; and sisters Beverly Toney, Judy Rayle, Kay Wisemiller and Pat Kiesel.
Funeral services will be held today, Thursday, May 5, 11 a.m. at Legacy Funeral Alternatives at Memorial Park. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Sr. Mary
Catherine Stier, O.S.F
Sr. Mary Catherine Stier, O.S.F., 97, of Oldenburg, died Wednesday, May 4, 2005 at the Srs. of St. Francis Convent Infirmary in Oldenburg. She was born August 15, 1907 in Greensburg the daughter of Stephen C. Stier and Olivia (Amrhein) Stier, both deceased.
Survivors include four sisters, Loretta Zoellner of Indianapolis, Sr. Anna Marie Stier, O.S.F. of Oldenburg, Sr. Olivia Marie Stier, O.S.F. of Oldenburg, and Margaret Feldman of Greensburg. She was preceded in death by four sisters, Christina Eder, Matilda Stier, Eleanor Peters and Helen Hannigan and two brothers, Joseph Stier and Francis Stier.
Sr. Mary Catherine Stier entered the convent on August 15, 1925 and made her final vows on July 2, 1931. She was a teacher at various schools in Ohio, Indiana and Illinois. She retired to the Motherhouse in 1989.
Visitation will be held Friday, May 6, 1-3 p.m. (slow time) at the Srs. of St. Francis Motherhouse Chapel in Oldenburg.
Funeral services will follow visitation at the Motherhouse Chapel at 3 p.m. with Rev. Carl Hawver, O.F.M. officiating.
Burial will be in the St. Francis Cemetery in Oldenburg. Memorials may go to the Srs. of St. Francis, P.O. Box 100, Oldenburg, Indiana 47036-0100.

J. "Jake" Kerker
Jerome J. "Jake" Kerker, 85, of Batesville, died Wednesday, May 4, 2005 at Hospitality Hall in Batesville. He was born September 7, 1919 in Batesville the son of Clarence F. Kerker, Sr. and Marie B. (Ollier) Kerker, both deceased. He married Lois Mary (Bauman) Kerker on January 8, 1944 at the St. Louis Church Rectory in Batesville and she preceded him in death on April 19, 1992.
Survivors include one daughter, Shelly Britton of Batesville; two sons, Scott Kerker of Charlestown, Tom Kerker of Indianapolis; four sisters, Mrs. Ambrose (Rosemary) Holtel of Batesville, Mrs. Carl (Barbara) Heidlage of Batesville, Mrs. Arthur (Rita) Goldsmith of Batesville, Mrs. Lester (Betty) Waters of Cheviot, OH; and one brother, Clarence Kerker, Jr. of Batesville. He was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Kerker.
Mr. Kerker was a self-employed bricklayer of the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Kraft Workers Local #4 for 35 years before retiring. He was an Army veteran of WWII and a member of St. Louis Catholic Church, Ripley County VFW Post #3183, Prell-Bland American Legion Post #271, International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Kraft (BAC) Local #4.
Visitation will be held Friday, May 6, 4-7 p.m. (slow time) at Weigel Funeral Home in Batesville with a rosary service being held at 4 p.m.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 7, 10 a.m. (slow time) at St. Louis Catholic Church in Batesville with Rev. Christiaan Kappes officiating.
Burial will be in the St. Louis Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the Ripley County VFW Post #3183 and the Prell-Bland American Legion Post #271 of Batesville.
