Four
members of the Brush Creek Scholastic trap shooting
team competed in their first competition on Saturday,
June 26 at Ceraland Park in Columbus, Indiana.
Robby Young, Zane Grossman, Ben Labolt, and Dustin
Duerstuck brought home the first place trophy
with an average score of 168.5 out of 200 targets.
The Scholastic Clay
Target Program is in its fifth year nationwide.
This is the first year a South Ripley and South
Decatur team has competed.
The program revolves around proper
firearm safety and education. The team practices
ten to twelve weeks of safety, procedures,
and proper gun handling while shooting clay
targets.
Their next competition will be
July 16 at Fortville, Indiana during
the state championship. The team will compete in a 200 target event
with all other teams in Indiana and the top three teams will advance
to the National Championships in Ohio.
Other participants not pictured
are Trent Herbert and James Herbert from South
Decatur, Josh Auger, Isaac Everage, Sean Guenter,
and Ryan Kohlmeier from South Ripley, and Phillip
Reneke of Germany.
