Possessions lost, but no one hurt in accident

"Don't let anyone tell you seat belts aren't
important...it saved my life!" exclaimed Sharon Lindsey,
48, of Sarasota, FL, after she was in an accident on Friday
afternoon, July 15.
The accident occurred about 3:20 p.m. on US 50 just west of
Holton. According to information from Chief Deputy David Pippin,
Lindsey was westbound on US 50 when she ran off the roadway
and lost control of the pick up truck she was driving. She
was pulling a U-Haul trailer, which became separated from the
truck upon impact and sent it flying to the other side of the
roadway.
"I heard the crash, looked over at the highway and saw
all this stuff flying up in the air," noted Brenda Beach,
who called 911 and then immediately ran through a field to
the scene.
Lindsey said she was moving from Sarasota, FL, to northern
Michigan and had many of her belongings with her. "It's
a lifetime of collections," she sadly noted. She looked
on the bright side though and was grateful she wasn't injured
nor were her four beautiful parrots. "We all survived,
I guess it wasn't my time to go," she noted as she tended
to the birds.
The only other vehicle somewhat involved, was a car that actually
drove between the truck and U-Haul trailer and only received
some pitting from the gravel that was flying through the air.
Captain David Pippin was the investigating officer and was
assisted by Deputy Bill Dramann also of the Ripley County Sheriff's
Department, and the Holton Fire Department.
