Alley use causes dispute at Napoleon
Cathy May - Contributing Writer
An alley-way in Napoleon is causing conflicts
among neighbors. Trucks coming to a business owned by John "Pink" Peetz
can no longer make the turn to get to his business because
of a fence put up on Ron Weber's property. Weber complained
the trucks drive on that portion of his property and have already
killed a bush. The town is looking at having the alley-way
surveyed.
The town of Napoleon has received a default judgment against
John Brison for $880.61 in gas bills plus $46 court costs.
Brison rented a building from Neal Dean and had gas hooked
up to the property. At the August 10, meeting of the Napoleon
Town Council, Dean noted he never gave Brison permission to
have gas extended to the property. The town received a letter
from GMAC saying they have foreclosed on Brison's house and
they will be getting their money first.
The town received a gas agreement from the town of Osgood
to charge them a flat fee of $160 a month as a maintenance
fee for the regulator gas meter. Osgood recently had to replace
the meter at a cost of $6,000. Napoleon will have their attorney
review the document.
The town has received several calls recently that Best Way
is not picking up the trash on Highway 421. President Tim Brancamp
has spoken with Best Way and asked them to go back past Highway
421 after they have made their other rounds.
A resolution was passed to pay for the balance of the pea
gravel from Riverboat Funds of $1,234.10. The 2005 budget was
reduced by $3,000 for local roads and streets. A public hearing
on the budget will be held next Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at the
Napoleon Senior Center.
All three town board members Tim Brancamp, Bill Vankirk and
Gerry Linarducci were present. Clerk Treasurer Karen Rohlfing
was also present to advise the board. The next regular meeting
of the Napoleon Town Board is scheduled for September 14, at
7:00 p.m. at the Napoleon Senior Center.
