Lady Raiders Varsity Soccer Team opens season SR girls varsity soccer gets underway at Batesville Gary Franklin - Sports Writer In the opening half of their season's first contest against South Ripley on August 16 the Batesville girls scored on a drive where they were able to take the ball the full length of the field. Scoring again came as a kick for a goal was deflected off the side of a SR defender. A third goal was scored by the Lady Bulldogs and on their fourth attempt, a header by Kelsey Steinhauer sent the ball out of bounds. The fourth point for the Bulldogs came off a kick by #4 Cara Hartman. In attempt after attempt, the Raiders could not get the ball to their goal for a score. Batesville scored point number five and in only seconds scored a sixth. With little time remaining in the first half, Batesville put in their seventh goal. South Ripley was unable to score and the first half ended at 7 to 0. The second half had but one score and that by Batesville making the final tally for the game, Batesville 8 to 0 over the Lady Raiders of South Ripley. Annual Raider Open to be held Sept. 10 The Annual Raider 4-person Golf Scramble will be held on Saturday, September 10, at North Branch, located at 8492 E. Base Rd., Greensburg. Tee time will be at 1:00 p.m. (slow time). The cost is $50.00 per person, which includes green fees, cart, lunch, and prizes for everyone. The proceeds are be used to benefit the South Ripley Raider Basketball teams.
