Osgood Fall Fest offers one-stop shopping
Wanda English Burnett - Editor
This Saturday Osgood can be your one stop shopping
destination.
Throughout the town various merchants will have specials at
their shops with the Osgood Lions Club sponsoring the Annual
Jac-Cen-Del Craft Sale, lunch and bake sale at the Jac-Cen-Del
school from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
The first ever Osgood Fall Fest, set for Saturday, October
15, will take place with the Ripley County Fairgrounds open
offering a variety of activities. According to Julie Brancamp,
manager at the park, the Farmer's Market will provide a variety
of pumpkins, gourds and fall ornamentals, there will be pony
rides by Robbies Roundup from Dillsboro, a bake sale and face
painting. A Halloween silhouette will be available for pictures
to be taken. This will take place from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00
p.m.
At the Whistle Stop Cafˇ on Railroad Avenue, there will be
a chili cook-off. Already there are between 12-15 entries,
according to officials at the restaurant. It should prove to
be an exciting day, with those stopping in the cafˇ casting
their votes, naming the best chili maker in Osgood!
Randy Ludwig from the Bear's Den Trading Post noted that he
has items in his store up to 50% off and knows many of the
other merchants are offering specials. To borrow a phrase,
Ludwig noted, "Osgood is a place on the way and we want to
make it a destination." He said he and other merchants feels
Osgood could be the next Little Nashville, and is looking forward
to being a part of that. Also located in his building is Somewhere
In Time, operated by his wife, Valerie.
"
Saturday will be a fun day of shopping, fun and food for everyone," noted
Brancamp, who is excited about the festivities at the fairground
park. She said there will be a wonderful variety of fall decorations
such as mums and pumpkins available, along with many other
things that day. The Osgood Beautification Committee, 2006
Committee and the Jac-Cen-Del Yearbook Committee will all be
having bake sales. "There are yard sales here that day too," Brancamp
said.
