Local author to sign books at JPG

Although Barbara Jachimiak has been a published
writer for years, she has can now add published author to her
title.
The Versailles woman began working on her latest accomplishment,
a book entitled, "A History of Saint Magdalene Catholic Church."
Jachimiak said she began working on the book in 1991 and completed
it in 1995. It was published through JPG Heritage Partnership
and is now on sale for $6.00 each.
A seminar will be held at the Old Timbers Lodge this Saturday,
from 9-3 where Jachimiak will be on hand to sign copies of
the book, which will be available for sale there.
Saying the book took a "lot of calling, going through old records,
and research," the completed project is a described as "a glimpse
at 150 years of history at the two churches of St. Magdalene."
Information in the book includes - Two Histories of St. Magdalene
Catholic Church 1847 and 1947; The First History of St. Magdalene
Catholic Church, 1830-1941; Improvements and Additions, 1855-1900;
New Families are Added to Church Roll, 1846-1900; Life at St.
Magdalene Parish, 1900-1941; The Last Pastor; The Last Days;
and much more. It also includes a number of photographs and
a list of charter members and parishioners.
Jachimiak, who is 77-years-old, has lived in Versailles over
30 years, after she husband Carl, moved to the area from Darien,
New York. The couple had six children.
Saying she has been writing since she was in grade school,
Jachimiak has a book of poetry she is getting ready for publication.
She also noted she has aspirations to publish some fictional
novels, including children's books. The author has been published
in several newspapers including a three year time she was employed
as Editor at Ripley Publishing Co., writing for the Osgood
Journal and The Versailles Republican.
