John Ingram, Milan's town manager, reported the town has applied for two Rising Sun grants for the renovation of the new town hall and for a dump truck for the town.

The town would supply $13,000 for town hall and $7,500 for the dump truck.

Ingram also noted that the land across from 5/3 Bank on Warpath Drive has been purchased for a Family Dollar store.

Ten flags and permanent brackets will be purchased and the utilities company will be asked to do the installation.

Council President Hildebrand signed the agreement with Ripley County Community Foundation. The town will match the $500 grant.

In other business the two council members signed the contract for the collection system improvement; agreed to hire an inspector for the determination of unsafe buildings; transferred funds for Clerk-Treasurer Gladys Moody; and agreed to replace worn flags throughout the town with a donation from Baylor Trucking.

Heavy trash pickup will take place this Saturday, October 22, and Milan residents are asked to have their items out the night before.
