The annual Girl's ORVC Varsity Basketball Jamboree was held Saturday, November 5 in the Switzerland County High School gym at Vevay.

Contending in two eight minute quarters during the evening, ORVC teams matched up to see what the competitors look like this season.

In the opening quarter of play, the host Switzerland County Lady Pacers squared off against the Milan Lady Indians. The Lady Pacers controlled the tip off but failed to score on their first possession. Indian senior Kiley MacVey scored one of two free throws to put the first point of the season on the board for Milan.

Senior Lady Pacer Ashley Chase scored the first field goal of the evening and led the Pacer team to the 15-12 edge at the quarters end.

The Lady Indians were then paired to play the South Ripley Lady Raiders under the direction of their new head coach Steve Snyder.

In opening, Raider Kristen Huss controlled the tip at mid court. The Raiders quickly moved the ball to Beth Stratton for the first two Raider points of the season in exhibition.

Emily Schmaltz of the Indian squad scored the first field goal for them and was fouled on the shot. Converting the three point play, Milan took the early lead. A couple of long range 3's by Raider junior Ciara McGuire and senior Kristen Huss put them on top at the end 21-20 over the Indians.

The Lady Raiders were next pitted against the Southwestern Lady Rebels. Rebel senior center, Kayla Hay controlled the mid court tip leading to a quick 2 point drive down the lane for a lay up and Rebel lead. The Lady Raiders quickly answered with a Kristen Huss field goal and foul by Rebel Oliver that Huss converted for the 3-2 Raider lead.

The Raider starters trailed 9-3 when the second group entered the game. A two point field goal and foul shot conversion by Erin Webster brought the game to 9-6 when the third group went in for the Raiders.

The Lady Rebels quickly ran the score up to 16-8 before at 1:38 the Raider starters reentered and brought the game to a 16-14 score at the horn.

Southwestern played their second quarter of exhibition against Jac-Cen-Del's Lady Eagles. Kayla Hay controlled the tip that ended up a SW turnover before they could score. The Lady Eagles turned the ball over also.

The first score of the game was to the Lady Rebels, by Hay, fouled by

Eagle Emily Einhaus, dropping a pair of free throws in for a Rebel 2-0 lead. The Lady Rebels took a 6-0 lead before Emily Einhaus dropped a pair of free throws in to get the Lady Eagles going. The Rebels won 19-8.

The Lady Eagles battled the Shawe Lady Hilltoppers. The Lady Eagles controlled the tip and Abby Lauber scored for the 2-0 lead. The Eagles went to 8-0 before Shawe's Maria Berry dropped the three through for 8-3. The Lady Eagles won 12-5.

The Shawe Lady Hilltoppers faced the Rising Sun Lady Shiners. The Shiners controlled the tip, but a Shawe steal led to a Jaclyn Armbrister foul, giving Shawe the ball out of bounds.

Shawe junior, Alyssa Hall scored 2 from the free throw line to open the scoring. Danika Bowman of the Lady Shiners scored a field goal for the tie at 2. The Lady Shiners won 6-5 but Shawe didn't play junior Hall and freshman Ebony Inskeep on the floor at the same time. These two have a lot of hustle and drive and may fool some teams this season with a little help.

The final quarter of the evening pitted the Rising Sun Lady Shiners against the host Switzerland County Lady Pacers.

The tip was controlled by the Shiners and freshman Jaclyn Armbrister put the first pair on the board for the lead. Armbrister fouled Sophomore Lady Pacer Tanya Sefton who missed both free throws.

At 6:58, Lady Pacer Ashley Chase tied the game at 2.

The Switzerland County Lady Pacers went on to win by the score of 13-10.
