The South Ripley High School
Varsity and Reserve Lady Raider basketball
teams opened their season against the Jennings
County Lady Panthers on Tuesday, November 8,
at JCHS.
In the varsity game, the Panthers took the
opening tip, leading to a Jessica Richards
score for 2-0. Ciara McGuire quickly scored
for the Raiders knotting the game at 2.
After one quarter the score was just more
than doubled at 16-7 Panthers. At the half
the score was at double at 24-12. During the
third quarter, the Raider run tightened the
score to 32-29 before the Panthers last shot
in the quarter took their lead back to a 5
point difference at the onset of quarter four
34-29. In the final quarter the Panthers were
able to add to their lead, ending the game
with a final tally of 45-33 and a Panther win.
During the game for the Panthers:
Jessica Richards 13 points and one foul including
3 for 4 from the line, Brittany Stearns 5 points
and 2 fouls including a 3 pointer, Tiffany
Elmore 10 points, 2/4 FT and 3 fouls, Kylie
Templeton 3 pointer and 3 fouls, Elizabeth
Wint 2 points and 2 fouls, Rylee Gibson 8 points
and 1 foul, Maggie McCoy 4 points and 1 foul,
and Malory Hurtle 0/1 at the line.
For the Lady Raiders
Ciara McGuire scored 6 points, 2/2 FT, Kristen
Huss scored two 3 point baskets and a duece
for 8 points and collected 4 fouls, Beth Stratton
was 0/2 at the line and scored 2 points, drawing
one foul, Josie Franklin had one foul, Beth
Thieman scored 6 points, 2/2 FT and had 2 fouls,
Abbey Lemon scored 4 points and 1 foul. Ashley
Thomas scored 8 points, going 2/2 at the FT
line and collected 2 fouls.
Final score 45-33 Panthers.
The Raider Reserves also fell to the Panthers
at 24-8. |
