The Lady Eagles have positive results against the Twisters

The Jac-Cen-Del Lady Eagles kept their perfect seasons beginning in tact, defeating the Oldenburg Academy Lady Twisters by the score of 62-32. The game was played at the 'Eagle nest' on Friday, November 18 and had many ups and downs - that being ups for the Eagles and downs for the Twisters.

Scoring after the first quarter of play found the Eagles ahead only by 3 points, with the score 9-6. Three Lady Twisters shared in the scoring: Bert Wurtz, D. Roberts, and Jenna Meyer, each with a basket. Lady Eagle scoring also came from three ladies. The three were: Talena Huff with a basket, Emily Einhaus draining a 3 pointer, and Alisha Lord, who scored a basket and dropped a pair of free throws in.

By the end of the second quarter, the Lady Eagles had nearly doubled their first quarter effort, scoring 16 points, and again held the Lady Twisters to just 6. Twister scoring was from Amanda Dickman for 2 and Kristen Billingsly who added a pair of field goals for 4 points. The Lady Eagle scorers were: Lord with 4, Einhaus a couple of 3's, Abby Lauber a basket, and Erika Simon 5 from two baskets and a free throw. The half-time score, JCD 25 to 12 for Oldenburg.

In the 3rd quarter the Eagle 3 train came to life. Lauber, Janelle Hardesty, and Amanda Harmeyer launched the biggies through the nets. Adding to the damage were Lady Eagles: Einhaus, Simon, Abby Rohlfing, and Kiersten Young, each with 2 point baskets.

In the third quarter, Twister scoring was again held to 6 points. Twister scoring was through Megan Dickman with 2 free throws and Meyer and Amanda Dickman each with 2 point baskets.

Beginning the fourth quarter at 42-18, the Eagles added 20 but allowed the Twisters to also pick up their pace, where they too scored 14. Lady Eagle Hardesty scored a 3, Einhaus 2, Young two 3's and two 2's, Carissa Simon a 3, and E. Simon and Huff each put in free throws.

The Lady Twisters 14 point rally came from: A. Dickman's two field goals and a free throw, Wurtz free throw make, M. Dickman's 4 points by cashing in at the free throw line, a two point basket by Kendra Getz, and Meyer 's scoring a basket and a free throw.

The final score, 62-32, put the Lady Eagles 3-0 for the season and ready to take on rival Milan Lady Indians where they would put the Ripley Publishing Inc. Co. 'Pride trophy' on the line on Saturday night, November 19.

Lady Indian Volleyball teams honored at 6th annual Banquet

At the 6th annual volleyball awards banquet held at the Milan VFW, Wednesday evening, November 16, all Indian girls' volleyball teams were honored. The special of the event was that the '05 Varsity Milan Lady Indian Volleyball team, coached by Terry Wullenweber, went undefeated at 6-0 in the ORVC play and earned a 20-12 over-all season record. Wullenweber noted that Milan hadn't won the conference title since 1988. In continuing he thanked Assistant coach Don Barton, team manager Ashley Lothridge, and many others who had helped to make this season a success.

Each of the champion Lady Indian Varsity team members received a plaque listing all the team members names, ORVC Conference Champs, and ORVC Tourney Champs etched on it. Also listed are new school

records accomplished by the team: aces - 279, a kill % of .145, and a tie for most solo blocks at 75. Other noted accomplishments by this team were their finish as runner-up at the Knightstown Invitational Tourney and a 5th place finish of 8 teams at the Union County Invitational.

Varsity individual winners were: Danessa Cutter with (100+ kills) - recording 250, Cutter won the (attack %'s) with a record of .305, and the 100+ kill assists award with 337.

Lacee Alloway had the best setting % at 97 with 389 of 402 including 162 assists. The serving % was won by Miranda Roberts with 347 of 357.

Lacee Alloway registered 76 aces this season, just 4 off the school record of 80, and she also took honors for the most digs with 287, and best serving reception with 563.

Jennifer Wullenweber won solo blocking with 35 and 9 assists,

Danessa Cutter logged 15 solo blocks and had 17 assists.

Kaity Barton and Danessa Cutter were named to the Knightstown all tourney team. Cutter was named ORVC co-player of the week twice this season, and Miranda Roberts and Jennifer Wullenweber were each named once.

Honored by being named to the all-conference ORVC volleyball team for 2005 were Indians Lacee Alloway, Danessa Cutter, Miranda Roberts, and Jennifer Wullenweber.

The 110% award - Kady Alloway. The most improved player - Jennifer Wullenweber. The most valuable player - Lacee Alloway. The leadership award went to Jennifer Wullenweber.

The 7th grade team, coached by Angie Volz, ended their season with a 10-9 record. Each of the girl's received a plaque for their win of the Milan MS Invitational tournament.

The 8th grade girl's team was coached by Brandy Lacey. Lacey recognized each player and thanked them for their work and improvement through the year. The team ended up with a 5-12 record and was praised by Lacey for their improvement over last years efforts.

The Lady Indian freshman team went undefeated in their four games of competition in 2005.

Joanne Siebert, the JV coach, reported the teams ORVC record was 3-3 and that their over-all record was 7-13 including a second place finish in the Jac-Cen-Del Reserve Invitational Tournament.

Serving title winners were: 7th - Lizzie Fuller and Kelsey Reese (a tie), 8th - Audra Morgan at 135 of 156, and for Reserve - Jessica Wessler at 149 of 154.

Aces: 7th Arielle Noel, for 8th Brittany Lewis, and for Reserve Becca Haugh, also named 'Rookie of the Year'.

110%: 7th Angel Smith, 8th Brittany Lewis, and Reserve, Julie Hoffrogge.

Most Improved Player: 7th Kelsey Reese, 8th Lacie Wood, and for Reserve, Jessica Wessler.
