In the second South Ripley Lady
Raiders basketball contest of the
season held at Tyson gymnasium
on Friday , November 28, the outcome
was anything but pretty for the
Raider team, coaches, and fans.
The opposing team, the North Decatur
Chargers, failed to show much as
well, however were able to rally
enough effort to win at game's
end 49-25.
Using a different rotation and
starting lineup, the Raiders began
the first quarter with a early
and long lasting lead of 2-0. Yes,
Abbey Lemon put in a field goal
for two at 6:19 in the first quarter
and that remained the total scoring
until Lady Raider teammate Ciara
McGuire added 1 of two free throw
attempts for a 3-0 lead at 1:07.
Scoring was at a minimum but fouls
were not as whistles blew for 5
team fouls on the Lady Chargers
and 3 on the Lady Raiders. Fouls
assessed were to Lady Charger's
Ashley Pulskamp - 2, and 1 each
to Rachel Hawkins, Breanne Schoettmer,
and Alison Lamb. On the flip side,
Lady Raiders Beth Stratton had 2 and
Ashley Thomas was called for 1.
To begin the second quarter, Stratton
was whistled for her third foul
as the game progressed at nearly
the same pace as the first quarter.
At 5:45, Lady Charger Schoettmer
drove for a lay up, 3-2 Raiders.
At the 4:57 mark, Lady Raider Coach
Steve Snyder called for a time-out.
Angela Gauck stole the ball and
drove to the basket for a pair,
4-3 Chargers, with 4:53 left in
the second quarter. Erin Webster
picked up her first foul at 3:40
for the teams 5th.
Lamb of the Lady Chargers put
up a 3 point basket for 7-3 Chargers.
A Raider missed shot put back up
by Ashley Thomas drew the Lady
Raiders to 7-5 at 3:09. A foul
was called on Lemon for the Raider's
6th team foul.
Hillary Wenning scored a deuce,
9-5, Chargers. A second foul was
called on Charger Schoettmer for
the Charger's 6th team foul of
the half. Wenning was next to score,
moving the score to 11-5, Chargers.
A moving screen foul whistled against
Schoettmer gave her a 3rd called
foul and a 7th team foul. With the
quarter about to expire, Webster
was whistled for her 2nd, and the
teams 8th putting Lady Charger
Pulskamp on the line where she
made 2 FT's.
The half time score - Lady Chargers
13 to Lady Raiders 7.
The Lady Chargers put on a bit
of a run so to speak if you call
8 points over three and a half
minutes a run. Scoring a basket
at 7:35, 7:12, and 6:22, Wenning
added 6 for the Charger cause.
A field goal by Schoettmer accounted
for the rest of the eight point
run by the Lady Chargers. At 4:31
the Lady Raiders Ashley Thomas
got one to drop for 21-9. McGuire
also dropped a shot through the
net for 21-11 at the 4:04 mark.

Schoettmer again scored for a Charger
lead of 23-11. At 3:03, Lady Raider
Beth Stratton picked up her 4th
foul and the teams 1st for the
half. Lady Charger Lamb connected
for a deuce and a trey elevating
the Charger score to 29-11 at the
2:11 mark.
A 3rd foul was whistled against
Raider Webster for the 2nd team
foul of the half as Charger Pulskamp
went to the line where she drilled
a pair for 31-11.
At 1:40, Raider Lemon scored for
31-13, which wrapped up the scoring
for the rest of the third quarter.
Lady Charger Elizabeth Frye was
called for her 1st foul and the
teams 3rd before the quarter expired.
During the fourth, Charger Schoettmer
scored at 7:30, 33-13. Raider Huss
was called for a foul, her 1st,
the teams 3rd. At 6:25 Charger
Gauck was called for her 1st foul,
the teams 3rd. At 5:42 Charger

Charger Gauck picked up her 2nd
foul and Schoettmer was called
for her 4th, the teams 4th.
Thomas scored for the Raiders,
35-15. Chargers Lamb and Kelsey
Ewing each scored, taking the score
to 39-15 at the 4:08 mark. Lady
Charger Wenning was charged with
the 1st foul of the game and the
teams 5th. The Lady Charger Coach
called for a time-out with 3:09
remaining.

effort, 41-17. Charger Lamb drilled
a 3 for 44-17 at 1:48. Beth Thieman
scored for the Lady Raiders, 44-19.

44-21. Wenning added a 3 for the
Chargers taking the score to 47-21
at 1:05.
