The Jac-Cen-Del Lady Eagles traveled
to Waldron taking on the Lady Mohawks. The
Lady Eagle perfect season run stayed in tact
with a seventh straight season victory at 66-59,
on Thursday, December 1.
The Lady Eagles experienced a new phenomenon
for the year as they trailed, not only one
quarter, but two.
In the first quarter the Lady Eagles led 14
to 11 from the scoring of Abbey Rohlfing with
a FG, Emily Einhaus with 2 FG's, and Janelle
Hardesty's 4 FG's.
The second quarter was the shocker, as the
Lady Eagles fell behind at the half time break,
31-24.
Scorers in quarter two by the Lady Eagles
were Alisha Lord making 1 of 2 FT's, Hardesty
scoring a FG, Abby Rohlfing connecting on 3
of 4 FT attempts, 1 of 2 FT's put in by Erika
Simon, and the draining of a 3 point shot by
Kiersten Young.
In the third quarter, the Lady Eagles cut
into the Mohawk lead, ending it with but a
4 point deficit at 45-41.
Third quarter scoring by the Lady Eagles came
from Hardesty with 2 FG's and a 3, Rohlfing
adding 3 FG's and a FG each by Simon and Talena
Huff.
In a furious paced fourth quarter, the Lady
Eagles knuckled down to out score the Mohawks
25-14, securing their seventh victory at 66-59.
Scoring in the fourth allowed an Einhaus bucket
to put the Lady Eagles back in the lead at
the 5:00 mark.
Fourth quarter scoring for the Lady Eagles
was through Lord, making 1 of 2 FT attempts,
Rohlfing adding a
pair of FG's, Einhaus adding a FG and 4 of 4
FT's, and Hardesty drilling a pair of 3's, a
FG, and sinking 6 of 10 free throw attempts.
Lady Eagle Senior Janelle Hardesty collected
a career high 31 point total during the game,
along with 9 assists. Abby Rohlfing added 15
points as the second highest point contributor
for the game and Emily Einhaus netted the double-double
with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Kiersten Young suffered a knee injury late
in the second quarter and her status is being
evaluated.
Coach Smith emphasized "team" as
the basis for their fortune. The Lady Eagles
play "TEAM" basketball and it shows.
Varsity Reserve Lady Eagles Keep Pace
A 45-27 victory secured a perfect 7-0 mark
for the Lady Eagle Reserve team. Top scorers
in the reserve contest were Carissa Simon with
13 points, Kristen Hicks with 9 and Kara Harlemert
with 8.
Next on the Lady Eagle agenda is a home game
with Trinity Lutheran on Thursday night, December
15.
