JCD Eagle boys are leaving no stone unturned

The JCD varsity boys' basketball team under the direction and leadership of Coach David Bradshaw are making steady progress toward the top. Both in the minds of their fans and in the polls, the Eagles have steadily climbed in the ratings and at last count were sitting #4 in Class 1A.

In competition, the Eagles traveled this past weekend to Southwestern (Hanover) on Friday, Dec. 16, and then to Rising Sun on Dec. 17, bringing home two more "W's" for their efforts.
At Southwestern (H)

The Varsity Eagles spurned the Rebels, 54-39, and likewise at Rising Sun the following night, the Eagle's sank their claws into the Shiners for a 65-46 win.

At the end of the first quarter, Jac-Cen-Del led 16 to SW(H) 5. The Eagles' Tucker Brown scored 6, Justin Huff 6, and Kyle Horan 4. For the Rebels; Blake Andrews 2 and AJ Sinders 3.

By the half time break, Jac-Cen-Del maintained the lead at 28 to SW(H) 20. The Eagles' Brown added 2, Tyler Bradshaw 2, Huff 3, Daniel Leonetti 2, and Adam Vollmer 3.

For the Rebel's; Andrews scored 2, Quinton Featherstone 4, Devon Chatham 3, Nate Thompson 3, and Cody Stephens 3.

During the third quarter, Jac-Cen-Del advanced to a 46 to SW(H) 33. Eagle scoring came from Brown 4, Bradshaw 3, and Huff 11. The Rebels' Andrews added 4, Chatham 3, and Thompson 6.

In the fourth, Jac-Cen-Del advanced to a 54 to SW(H) 39 victory. Eagle scoring came from Brown 4, Brandon Gehl 2, and Horan 2. The Rebel scorers were Featherstone 3, Sinders 2, and Stephens 1 for a final score of 54-39 JCD victorious.

JCD vs Rising Sun

The Eagles won a second game from efforts made against the Rising Sun Shiners on Saturday, December 17 at Rising Sun.

Jac-Cen-Del Eagle varsity boys Justin Huff and Brandon Gehl each netted 22 points in the Eagle victory of 65-46. Huff is a junior and Gehl a sophomore.

After the first quarter, JCD led 13 to 12. The Eagle scoring came from Tucker Brown 2, Brandon Gehl 6, Justin Huff 3, and Adam Vollmer 2. For the Shiners, Timmy White had 4 points, Nathan Keith 6, and Zack Shell 2.

During the second quarter, the Shiners took the lead 28-23. Shiner scoring was by White 4, Keith 10, and Shell 2. The Eagle scorers were Brown 3, Gehl 4, and Vollmer 3.

In the third quarter, the Eagles recaptured the lead with Gehl scoring 8, and Huff 14 off 4-3's and a FG, while the Shiners only scored 7 from Keith and 2 by Brian Hochstrasser for a JCD lead of 45-37.

In the fourth, Eagle Brown added 6, Thomas Wenning 1, Gehl 4, Huff 5, and Daniel Leonetti 4. The Shiners' scorers; White 2, Hochstrasser 2, Scott Cummings 3, and 2 by Tyler Bauschbach for a final score of Jac-Cen-Del 65 to Rising Sun 46.

The Eagles' next contest will be against the Batesville Bulldogs at the RCT on Jan. 4 at 7:30 p.m.
